From Silvia to Nuphap.

Nuphap ciao!
It’a hard also for me!
My new “restart” is strange!
But don’t worry!

Regarding our last test, i prefer the A6 format with the book divided by chapters! It is more interesting and simple to sell, i think!
The A6 format help us to find a good way to choose packaging.
Here you find some references.

The binding: punto metallico maybe it’s cheaper then the seam with singer machine. Can you try all?
We can also ask to Sebastiano from Finti Libri Clandestini regarding this!
I try to write to him!

About Network
> PublishingLab: is a ‘hybrid publisher’ from Amsterdam that working at the intersection of publishing and digital technology, both in print and digitally. Here you find a little presentation.

Is interesting how they works on social media to share content!

> Make it public: is a project that originated as an academic assignment and evolved to an exploration of themes such as independent production, publishing and design.

Have a look about famous fair of independent publishing, this is what i find:

/ Sprint
Milan / November
That we have seen and i talked here.

/ Micro
Milan / Until 2014
It’s a first festival in Milan that talking about Independent publishing.
I try to research more about the reason why they don’t do anymore.

/ Fruit exhibition
Bologna / January
It’s an event centred on the best international graphic design and creative publications. Open to the public, Fruit Exhibition is the only event in Italy for paper and digital publishing including artists’ books, catalogs, graphic design projects, periodicals, stationary and zines.

/ Gelati Fanzine Festival
Genoa / June
It’s an international independent publishing festival.

I think that we need to go at this event for share our project, exchange and grow up our network!

About Distribution/Sell

Last time we see together the best way to communicate with people from social to buy online.

First social /decide what social we want to use and for what?

Already done:
> Medium: where we write our progress about our process

> Twitter: live content

Need to open:
> Facebook: activity / people / project that we find in our way

> Instagram: from first reference books to our final production / more visual

> Pinterest: visual mood / vision / risograph / binding / reference / exhibition / packaging / other print tecnique / Shop — pop up

How we can sell?
On social media maybe don’t work well.
There is a part on Fb that you can sell but we need to create a group.
https://www.facebook.com/help/894935210589667/
Instagram works like depop. It’s smart but works better for wear and accessory. But it’s cool because have a network!
There is also some application that transform your Instagram in a shop but look like don’t work well.
The last option is to add to our website a custom marketplace that have also a network in the back!
I find:

> Big cartel: simple tools and resources to build a unique online store, manage and sell their work, delight their fans and customers, and run their business their own way.

> Tictail: is a social marketplace home to independent brands from over 140 countries around the world. On Tictail, shoppers can explore and connect with our global community of brands — and be the first to discover the next big thing in fashion, art, and home decor.

This is also a solution that now use more and more independent publisher.

If we decide for this way we have 3 options:

1 / Social > Web > E-commerce

First idea, the standard is from social to link the peolple to web site and the go on different e-commerce to buy.
This way is the normal way and the utility of the website is only for riderect!
Maybe don’t make sense!

2 / Social > E-commerce

Second idea is use social for link the people to buy on our e-commerce platforms. This way we don’t have need a personal web site. From our different social we have to redirect people, but they can’t see all our story and process if don’t follow us on all our social channel!

3 / Social / Web > E-commerce

Third idea is decide what topic we talk in our each social channel.
Then try to build a an aggregator splash page that put together our social and tell our live story.

Let’s see!
I try to understand more!

See you!

Sylvia
