The MCU has officially taken a deep dive into the Monsterverse with Michael Giacchino’s Werewolf By Night. With its arrival set to change the status quo of the franchise, Kevin Feige and company have churned out a product that’s boldly refreshing for fans and general audiences alike.

The special’s black and white aesthetic acts as a throwback to the monster movies of old, providing an eerie tone reminiscent of the classics. With sprinkles of well placed humor and bloody, visceral action throughout its 55 minutes run time, Werewolf By Night entertains in spades.

Gael García Bernal’s titular character claws and chomps his way through multiple enemies with ease alongside Laura Donnelly’s badass Elsa Bloodstone. A fan-favorite Marvel Comics character makes their debut here as well, emulating major Swamp Thing vibes. God, I miss that show.

Whether this was simply meant to lay the groundwork for Mahershala Ali’s Blade or not, one thing’s for sure: the weird taste left in my mouth from Thor: Love and Thunder has officially been washed out. Here’s to Marvel Studios’ future ventures into the supernatural. I’m f***ing hyped!
