A Daughter, a Mother, and Why They Never Leave the Ring

Is life a straight road or a circle? Who knows, but more importantly, who cares? This thought crossed my mind as I read the fourth story from Josh Kiev a new writer on Tiny Life Moments. Are we on a straight line from the past through the present to the future. Or do we learn from the past, experience the present and then go straight back to step one, where we learn again, grow a little, then return again to learn.

It is commonly said that we grow up to become our parents. I protested vehemently against this notion as a child, but now as an adult, I have accepted it to be true -we never leave the ring. We hear it said, what goes around comes around -we never leave the ring. Have you ever felt you’ve been going round in circles? As Josh said, ‘Always show up. Never give up; enjoy the process of what you are doing or find another process.’ The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Each morning it wakes and does the same thing -it never leaves the ring. Like mother, like daughter, they never leave the ring.

(Thanks to Dr. Jackie Greenwood, Josh Kiev and Alison Tennent for inspiring this week’s dramatic title)
