Welcome to the new era of clubbing. And no it’s not an illegal rave, nor is it watching a livestream on Facebook. The new era of clubbing in 2020 are virtual nightclubs and people are paying real money to get in.

Since social distancing laws came into effect in March, the events industry was forced to a standstill with thousands of events cancelling and rescheduling. Artists around the world scrambled to keep fans entertained by streaming themselves live in their kitchen using Youtube, Twitch, Facebook and Instagram. However, very few artists and promoters have taken the bold step in hosting private online parties.

Virtual nightclubs take livestreaming to a whole new level. With several virtual breakouts playing different genres of music and even a bouncer at the front door, virtual nightclubs are as close as it gets to the real thing.

How are they doing it? Zoom of course. Pre-isolation most people in the world hadn’t even heard of Zoom. Fast forward to April 2020 and even the Queen is having Zoom party for her birthday. But move aside Queen Elizabeth here are some real Zoom parties that are taking clubbing to bedrooms around the world:

Club Quarantine

Arguably the first to make the leap and undoubtedly the most famous virtual nightclub at the moment is Club Quarantine. Parties are hosted “everyday of the quarantine” from Sunday — Friday at 9pm — 12am EST and on Saturday from 6pm — 12am EST. Virtual patrons can get their name on the door with a $10 ticket and can even pay $80 for a private breakout room with dancers and insta famous DJs. Check out VICE’s story on the club below

To get involved visit Club Quarantine’s Instagram page and if you get a ticket don’t forget the dress code and a virtual background.

Quarantee

A virtual club hosted by some of New York’s finest resident DJs. The party is limited to 1000 guests and there are up to 50 virtual tables. Tickets range from $10 all the way up to $210 which includes a VIP table for you and your company. A dedicated host will also support you through your virtual clubbing experience.

Club Corona

If you like party tunes and an MC to keep you entertained, Club Corona is up your alley. The hosts self proclaim it as Sydney’s first online nightclub, let’s hope it’s the first of many!

Club Matryoshika

So far everything on our list has been about Zoom parties, however, this one is a little different. Club Matryoshika is a music club started in Manila, Philippines and is hosted on a private Minecraft server. It is a home for “underground music mutants and artists”.
