We are getting closer and closer to the highly anticipated Hatch of the Token Engineering Commons! While the world goes on around us, we have been heads-down building the foundational layers on which all else will rest.

In our effort to keep the community up to date, we have undertaken the production of the Token Engineering Commons Handbook. This Handbook is meant to help you understand, navigate and contribute to the Token Engineering Commons in support of our mission of advancing the Token Engineering field.

While this Handbook is actively being built, you will already find a section explaining the why and how of our Cultural Build, all you need to know about the Hatch and our Code of Conduct.

📣 Help Us Create our Mission, Vision, and Values

Along our path to the Hatch, we continue to have important decisions to make. Among them, we are reexamining our Mission, Vision, and Values. The TEC community has grown into a 270+ active contributor community and we want all of us to have a say, and align, on these before the Hatch.

You can, right now, submit your proposal for what you believe should be the Mission, Vision, and Value statement of the TEC. All submissions will be voted on using TokenLog, a Token-weighted governance tool.

Voting power is determined by your Impact Hours and CSTK Score, and community members can use their voting power to vote for their favorite proposals.

🗳 Voting ends April 13th 🗳

If a proposal has 50% of the total number of votes on April 13th at 7:55pm Berlin time, it will be the winner. If that condition is not met, the top 3–5 submissions will have a final voting round and the one with the most votes will win. We must take into account the possibility of votes split amongst forked proposals that are similar and other edge cases, and so, the Community Stewards will choose which top voted submissions will be included in the the run-off.

🌱 Announcing! Trusted Seed’s Swiss Membership

The Trusted Seed membership Dapp, which you can find at member.commonsstack.foundation

At the TEC, we have voted to follow our Legal WG’s proposal to open the initial token generation, the Hatch, only to members of Commons Stack Trusted Seed. The founding of new token economies strongly benefit from mission alignment among early governance stakeholders. By using the Trusted Seed, we are ensuring early Hatchers come from a pre-vetted list of altruistically minded individuals that value long term sustainable and regenerative economies over short term individual profit.

If you are not yet part of the Trusted Seed, and you want to participate in the TEC Hatch, your next step is to apply now. If you have already been accepted, your next step is to activate your membership by joining the Trusted Seed’s Swiss Association via the Swiss Membership DApp.

Benefits of a Swiss Association:
1. Legal entity with simple constitutional requirements
2. Members, not investors
3. Global membership available
4.
Satisfies minimum viable centralization

If you have any questions regarding the TEC Hatch, visit Hatch 101 or join our Hatch Outreach AMA every Wed. at 1pm CET on our #Hatcher-Outreach voice channel on Discord.

👩‍🚀 Gravitons Unite!

Why Gravity? Gravity is the name of a trust creation & conflict management initiative born from the Token Engineering Commons. We are proud to share that the Gravity WG has realized our first generation of Gravitons, those that have participated in a custom designed 8-week training course to manage conflict and support soft governance rules inside the TEC.

Participants learned to bring people together and promote resilience in decentralized organizations through non-violent communication, understanding and analyzing conflict, and practicing conflict management techniques. This is an important component of the Cultural Build as it defines how mutual monitoring and graduated sanctions are applied. The mission is to help build a culture of wellbeing while establishing clear processes to strategically manage disputes whenever they arise.

We would like to applaud all of the Gravity participants, instructors, and community supporters on a groundbreaking cultural implementation. Here are the Discord handles of the 1st Gen Gravitons, feel free to approach any of these people or complete the Gravity Typeform to mediate and transform conflictive situations in your own community.

🤖 GITCOIN GR9!

The TEC wants to thank everyone who participated in Round 9 of the Gitcoin Grants Matching round. The contributions to the TEC and the TEC — Panvala League were incredible, and the number of unique contributions was amazing! While there are many people to thank, we want to send some special shout outs to Super Star Contributors — those who gave >100 DAI to our various grants will receive CSTK tokens (if they are in the Trusted Seed), a non-transferrable token representing reputation score. Trusted Seed membership offers exclusive access to Commons hatches, airdrops, schwag and legal protection.

💎 The Praise is in! Impact Hour Leaderboard

For participation, TE Commons contributors are acknowledged via a praise bot developed by the Commons Stack and then that Praise is quantified to distribute Impact Hours. Through Telegram and Discord bots and bridges, community members dish Praise to each other to recognize work.

Impact Hours will be converted into TECH tokens at launch. The exact value of Impact Hours will depend on the parameters chosen by the community and how much is collected in the Hatch 🐣, but the intention is that each hour will be worth somewhere between $10-$200.

Congratulations on the hard work everyone and thank you for your contributions to the Token Engineering Commons! 🥳 Here is the full list of Impact Hours awarded for work from March 13 — March 26:

Period IH

Every contribution counts, and the Token Engineering Commons is incredibly grateful for its 270+ active contributors that have earned Praise so far. 🙏 Below is a partial list of total Impact Hours to date, the full list and the math behind its calculation can be found in this spreadsheet:
