DeCurret DCP, which operates a digital currency business through the provision of Amic Sign, will begin collaborating with Visual Voice, a storytelling company that creates empathetic communication through the power of video, to provide the DAO Fan Token Service, a community for creators within LIFE LOG BOX (LLB), a data asset management service operated by Visual Voice.

DeCurret DCP announced the “Amic Sign Awards,” a first in the history of film festivals, to award prize money in the digital currency DCJPY at the opening ceremony of the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) 2024, Asia’s largest international short film festival, which is recognized by the Academy Awards and planned and operated by Visual Voice. In addition, they announced a collaboration to provide the “DAO Fan Token Service,” a community for creators.

Background

When creators create video works, they need the cooperation of many professionals, such as performers, sound and direction staff, and they also need a large amount of funding. Even after the work is completed, there are problems such as limited opportunities to release the work and the complicated management and storage of the work data, making it a high hurdle for creators to produce video works.

In this environment, Visual Voice has been working to:

  • host an international short film festival (SSFF & ASIA) to provide creators with a forum to present their work
  • provide a data asset management service (LLB) to maximize the value of creators, and connect this to the management and storage of work data

However, there are still issues remaining regarding payment when fans purchase and watch work data stored in the LLB, as well as issues regarding obtaining collaborators and funding for other work productions, and Visual Voice and DeCurret DCP have been working hard to find solutions to these issues.

The Future of Crowdfunding

The overview of the DAO Fan Token Service, a community for creators that Visual Voice and DeCurret DCP aim to provide together, is provided in the headline graphic.

  • When producing a video work, creators consider the plan, cast, director, filming location, etc.
  • There are fans of the creators themselves, the performers, the directors, etc. who would like to work together on a project. The partners also believe that there are local residents and businesses who would like to support filming if it is done in a place that has a connection to them.
  • Fans who want to be involved in the production and local people in the filming location can participate and support the creators’ requests and participate in the production of the work, and rewards will be allocated to those participants and supporters. The partners are considering using digital currencies such as DCJPY and a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) for the content of this participation and support and the reward system.
  • The produced video works can be delivered to fans through screenings at SSFF & ASIA and events around the world.

By utilizing digital currency and DAO, individuals and companies who have traditionally found it difficult to get involved in video production can now easily participate. Until now, video production has always been a separate entity between creators and fans. With the DAO Fan Token Service, fans can not only support video production, but also get involved in planning and management depending on the size of their support. For example, they can come up with ideas, create costumes and music to promote their own work, and arrange filming locations to liven up their local area.

Going beyond simple fundraising, creators and supporters can come together to create and produce movies, creating a new customer experience that gets everyone excited together.
