TORUM: The first crypto-focused social media platform

2018 was perhaps a year of nightmare for every cryptocurrency enthusiast. The price of Bitcoin fell from $18,000 to $3,200 towards the end of 2018, crushing the lambo dream of HODLers around the world.

When the crypto bubble burst, three young cryptocurrency enthusiasts from Malaysia sought out to understand the true reason for the bubble formation. The answer is simple:

“The value of most crypto projects are built on mere hype, but not use cases or utility.”

The revelation sets the foundation for the three young HODLers on a mission to build a crypto-powered ecosystem with scalable use cases that support a token’s value. From here, the idea of TORUM was born.

Introducing TORUM

TORUM is the first social media platform that is specially designed for cryptocurrency users. We connect crypto addicts from different parts of the world and provide a one-stop crypto services to the community in a fast-growing ecosystem.

Within the ecosystem, cryptocurrency enthusiasts can socialize with one another while having the option to swap tokens in a DeFi platform, trade in a dedicated marketplace and many other crypto-centric features.

What problems are we solving?

TORUM addresses three unique problems respectively faced from three different perspectives:

Community: Disorganized communities due to segregated messaging applications

The increasing usage of different social communicating applications makes it difficult for communities to stay connected in one place. Not only are the time and financial cost involved increased, the crypto information is segregated across different channels, leading to community disengagement.

Projects: The lack of a cost-efficient marketing channel

Generally, cryptocurrency projects have to invest a significantly large amount of money into marketing and brand exposure. While the effort is divided across different social media channels, the lack of a concentrated crypto social channel makes it even harder for projects to perform community building.

Industry: Information asymmetry in the crypto space

The information and knowledge in the crypto space are not shared equally and efficiently among the cryptocurrency community. This leads to the situation where communities are constantly exposed to the risk of scams and pyramid schemes.

Alright, so what’s special about TORUM?

Since the TORUM Beta platform was launched on the 1st of July, we have been engaging with the community and testing various crypto-focused features to develop the most scalable and multi-functional crypto-powered ecosystem.

We pride ourselves as the first crypto-focused social media project with:

The user interface (UI) of TORUM is designed with the most engaging community building element and a minimal user learning experience. In just 5 to 10 minutes, any new TORUM community member can get used to the UI easily and uses TORUM effectively.

2. A crypto-focused social atmosphere

Unlike other similar social media projects, TORUM is packed with features and functionalities that are specially designed for the cryptocurrency community. For instance, communities on TORUM can support quality content creators with crypto-themed gifts and spark interactions with emotes based on crypto memes.

3. A perfectly designed ecosystem development plan

The idea of a crypto-focused social media platform is only the beginning of our vision. Over the next 3 years, we will introduce a series of crypto-focused features and functionalities to develop TORUM into a fully scalable and multi-functional crypto-powered ecosystem.
