Launch of Torum DAO
In the wake of the regrettable Poly Network exploit on July 2nd, 2023, at 06:47 PM UTC, Torum finds itself standing at a crucial crossroads. This pivotal moment has propelled Torum to take an unprecedented stride forward — the inception of Torum DAO. This momentous choice stems from an unwavering dedication to empowering the community and fostering decentralized governance.
Three distinct proposals have been presented so far, providing Torum DAO members the opportunity to wield their voting influence:
- Redeployment of $XTM: Choice between BNB Chain or Ethereum Mainnet.
- Blacklist the Hacker Address.
- Blacklisting of VC Addresses from the distribution of redeployed $XTM.

Redeployment of the $XTM Contract in BNB Chain
On July 2nd, 2023, an unfortunate incident unfolded, during which an exploiter managed to drain a total of 141,462,563.51 $XTM from the Poly Network bridge contracts. It is worth highlighting that Team Torum had maintained a vigilant stance against the potential risks and swiftly took action to mitigate the possible impact caused by the exploiter.
To preempt any potential future damages stemming from the exploited $XTM, a token redeployment became imperative. Seizing this opportunity, Team Torum consolidated $XTM on-chain, redeploying it onto a single chain, BNB Chain which was decided by the Torum DAO in the Redeployment of $XTM: Choice between BNB Chain or Ethereum Mainnet proposal.

All on-chain holders of $XTM has since been credited with the newly redeployed $XTM in a 1:1 ratio, directly into their Web3 wallets on the BNB Chain. We are delighted to share that despite this exploit, no user funds were compromised or lost.

Upgraded Torum social media custodian wallet system
Due to the regrettable on-chain situation resulting from the Poly Network exploit, the deposit and withdrawal functionalities of $XTM on Torum had to be temporarily disabled. Utilizing the situation at hand, Team Torum undertook extensive overhauls to bolster the service and security of the Torum exchange wallet.
This initiative was also undertaken in preparation for the forthcoming transition of the default withdrawal and deposit address of the Torum exchange wallet from Ethereum to the BNB Chain.
Revamped the Airdrop page
Torum’s airdrop page has undergone a comprehensive revamp, now equipped with the capability to accommodate airdrops for multiple chains, including:
- Ethereum Mainnet.
- BNB Chain.
- Polygon Mainnet.
- HECO Chain.
Due to the extensive nature of this overhaul, all previous data has been entirely removed. Therefore, it is necessary for you to re-enter your address using the “Add Address” button. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Enhanced notifications to show display name
We have received feedback from the community regarding notifications that occasionally display a Lander’s “username” instead of their “display name,” which can lead to confusion. The team wholeheartedly agrees with this perspective and has taken the requisite steps to modify Torum’s notification system.
Henceforth, all notifications will prominently feature a Lander’s display name rather than their username, ensuring a clearer and more coherent user experience.
Bug fixes & minor enhancements
- Fixed an issue where Emoji-flags were cropped in responsive screens.
- Resolved the issue where comments on a post/thread/repost were not visible in the feed.
- Corrected the “Spread” description to appropriately refer to the user when they spread their own post/thread.
- Fixed a bug where, after reposting a post, the reposted content appeared as deleted.
- Fixed a bug where there is a lack of comment notifications when the user is already engaged in the comments and the post owner comments on the same post.
- Fixed inconsistent follower counts being displayed for users.
- Ensured that old mentioned usernames changed accordingly upon a username change.
- Implemented restrictions against using special characters in the mobile number field.
- Added a fallback image for users with no notifications.
- Fixed a bug where the confirmation modal is overlapped by the keyboard.
- Improved MFA by allowing OTP sending without closing the keyboard.
- Updated the error message for clearer guidance during invalid password scenarios.
- Resolved the issue where error messages weren’t displayed for invalid email IDs.
- Enhanced in-app notifications for better redirection to posts.
- Fixed a bug showing a blank screen when clicking on user avatars from mutual landers.
- Updated the notification text for better clarity on root comment replies.
- Added a blue dot indicator for unread notifications.
- Resolved an error encountered when navigating from news notifications.
- Addressed intermittent issues where comments weren’t visible when navigating to the root post from reposted posts.
