Yes, It’s Happening — Salesforce Certification Maintenance Is Moving to Trailhead!
As announced at TrailheaDX earlier this year, the time has finally arrived. Because we want to make all of your learning and credentialing easy to access from one central platform, maintaining your credentials has just gotten a whole lot simpler with the power of Trailhead.
When you hold a Salesforce certification, you’re a credentialed expert. Keeping your certification current tells the world that you know the latest and greatest about Salesforce. We listened to your feedback and put a lot of thought into how we could improve your maintenance experience even more. And we’ve made some big changes!
Effective with the Summer ’18 release cycle, the Administrator, Platform App Builder, and Platform Developer I maintenance exams will join Marketing Cloud Email Specialist and Marketing Cloud Social Specialist maintenance on Trailhead.
Maintenance will be FREE
Yes, you heard right. Beginning with the Summer ’18 release cycle, all certification maintenance exams on Trailhead will be free! You’ll no longer need to register and pay for these maintenance exams.
Instead, just like you do now to earn a badge, you’ll simply log into your Trailhead account, select your certification maintenance module, learn all about the latest and greatest features, and answer the questions or complete the hands-on challenge.
You will need to link your Trailhead and Webassessor accounts in order to ensure your credential status is updated. We understand that this process has been a little challenging, so we’ve improved it to make account linking run more smoothly. Once your accounts are linked, the update will be visible within one week of completing your maintenance module on Trailhead.
Don’t forget! It’s now one release cycle…
The Certified Administrator, Certified Platform App Builder, and Certified Platform Developer I maintenance exams will now need to be completed within one release cycle. This means the Summer ’18 release maintenance exams launching on Trailhead will be due by the end of the Summer ’18 release cycle (that is, before the launch of the Winter ’19 release).
All other maintenance exams will remain in Webassessor to be migrated to Trailhead by the end of January 2019. Here’s how the new certification maintenance process will look (you’ll want to check out our release schedule page for exact dates):
