If you want your space, venue or hotel to be in front of modern customers, you need a strong social media presence. Young event planners are spending a lot of time online, searching for venues and inspiration. You need to capture their attention and create meaningful following and connections.

The situation of traditional media is alarming. The future of advertising for hotels and venues is that of online and social.

You are not going to benefit from this revolution, by constantly sharing sales offers or pictures of your hotel. You might be hoping that somehow the potential customers will be impressed, but that would be a huge mistake.

You need to create fascinating stories, supply facts and tips and share content which is both valuable and interesting. Most importantly, however, as a sales manager or executive, you need to USE THE SOCIAL MEDIA AS NETWORKING AND PR TOOL, and only replay on paid adds or a marketing agency.

Here are some of our top tips.

  1. Share pictures not just of your property or destination. Share pictures with real people.
  2. 70% of success on social media is persistence and systematics. Share content regularly
  3. Pick the platform you enjoy. You do not have to post on every single platform.
  4. Create your own content- this is ranked higher.
  5. INSTAGRAM is an absolute must for all travel products and services.
  6. Show how other people see your property/destination- re-share other people’s content about your property and tag them (user-generated content)
  7. No matter which platform you use ALWAYS RESPOND TO COMMENTS

8. If you are having a good time conversing with someone on social (potential client, partner), try to meet them in person down the line

9. BE YOURSELF — show a bit of your personality. Use the connections you already have. ALWAYS GIVE BACK AND PROMOTE OTHERS WHEN YOU CAN.

10. SALES DIRECTORS- allow your staff to be themselves but provide training and guidance on how to use social for sales and promotion.
