Last week, I moderated a panel with several amazing product managers. You can see the full panel in the video here:

Here are the questions that I prepared. How would you answer these?

Finding Focus Fast

How do you balance the needs of the customer with the needs of the business? It’s never always customer, nor should it be always business. Time is money so how do we arrive at the right decisions in a timely manner?

Roadmapping & Roadblocking

You’ve each worked in very competitive spaces. How does the competition factor into your thinking, planning, research and, ultimately, prioritization of new ideas and the roadmap? How you do you know what doesn’t matter?

Divesting of Distractions

Shiny objects are everywhere and no matter how mature your team, there’s always room for wanton re-prioritization. What are your methods for tamping these down or accelerating acceptance, as appropriate?

Managing Personalities

There’s a number of different stakeholders with important voices to integrate. Have you found a specific ratio or organizational model that you try to optimize towards? How do you work specifically with Support / Success / Sales?

Reverse Engineering Engineers

Usually, we like to plan. Often, you have to move faster than expected. Engineering is our closest ally in delivering product on time and reliably. What is your process and what do you prioritize when it has to be abridged in some way?
