1.0 Recap

Yesterday, I looked at the factors that contribute to websites usability. These factors such as visual design, speed when loading web pages, and navigation through the contents on your websites determine if users will come back to visit your websites. Here is a recap.

2.0 How do you sell UX design to friends and colleagues?

Yesterday at work, I was chatting with a colleague of mine about what skills are relevant in the software development field. I mentioned UX design and he totally disagreed. He said in a tech team, you can always do away with UX designers. The most “important” people are usually the developers.

It’s not just my friend that has this notion. Most companies don’t feel the need to hire UX designers because they have no idea of the Return On Investment(ROI) when one conducts user experience design.

Here are the benefits of UX to clients and companies:

  • UX design allows you to build products that meet the user’s needs.
  • It allows the company to look at what works and doesn’t work in order to make appropriate decisions so that they don’t suffer the consequences in the future.
  • UX increases the reputation of your business. When you create a product that meets the needs of your users, they tend to put in a good word about your business.

“If the UX of your product is cool, then you will have happy customers”
