The Future of Nufinetes

Since the genesis of Nufinetes in early 2021, the Nufinetes app has provided a secure and convenient way to store your coins and interact with web3 dApps such as VIMworld.

Nufinetes recently released a new type of Nufinetes: our browser extension wallet. In tandem, VIMworld has released a dedicated app which includes a built-in Nufinetes wallet module. In light of these developments, Nufinetes app will remain available to download but not be further developed.

Therefore, we recommend Nufinetes app users to migrate to the Nufinetes browser extension and/or the VIMworld mobile app. These will cover most use cases. Popular specialized Nufinetes use cases such as e.g. recovery of vechain coins sent to an ethereum address or vice versa, will still be possible with the latest version which will remain available to download.

Exporting your private key from Nufinetes Application

The first step in migrating your wallet is retrieving either your seed phrase or private key. You should already have made a physical backup of your seed phrase.

To export your private key from Nufinetes app, first click on the wallet you want, then click the two bars at the lower right, and select ‘Edit Wallet’. On the Edit Wallet screen, click the three red dots at the upper right to get the third screen below.

From here, you may view your seed phrase, or export your private key. If you had previously removed the seed phrase or originally imported via private key, you will not see the seed phrase option. Using the private key will ensure that you will get the same wallet address in the destination wallet. Be careful to clear the private key from your device’s clipboard after pasting it in the destination wallet- the private key grants full access to your assets!

Setting up Nufinetes Extension Wallet

Nufinetes extension is a self-custodial wallet that allows you to manage your tokens and interact with dApps including VIMworld across multiple blockchains, which can be added to Chrome and Chromium based Browsers (including Edge). What we think is particularly awesome is that the Nufinetes Browser extension is compatible with Vechain, a variety of Ethereum-like chains AND Bitcoin! Not only this, but you can manage your NFTs across multiple chains directly from the pop-out wallet interface in your browser.

Nufinetes Extension is currently compatible with the following blockchains: Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Bitcoin, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Vechain and Optimism.

This previous article contains information about how to install the extension.

Wallet import options on Nufinetes Extension

As a new user, you can easily generate a new wallet on Nufinetes extension. Don’t forget to back up your seed phrase!

If importing an existing wallet to the extension, there are two options: seed phrase or private key.

When you originally created your wallet, then you would have written down or somehow backed up your 12 or 15 word phrase. Entering this to Nufinetes extension when set on Ethereum will give you a wallet on all the Ethereum-based chains supported. Entering on Vechain will give you a Vechain wallet. If you originally set up your wallet on Vechain but want to use it on Ethereum, you can do a this trick to get the same address on both. First import on Vechain, then export the private key. Import this private key as a new Ethereum wallet. Now, you will have the same address on both chains!

Side note: Derivation paths

When wallet addresses are generated from 12 or 15 word seed phrases, there are thousands of potential addresses that can be created. Historically, different blockchains have arbitrarily used different derivation paths to generate wallets, meaning that the same phrase would result in a different address for example when using an Ethereum vs Vechain software wallet. This tool helps illustrate this by allowing you to generate any possible addresses based on a seed phrase on different chains. Use for research purposes only and do not enter your seed phrase on that website.

The impact of this is that the Nufinetes chain setting that you used when first creating your wallet, or possibly having used a Vechain ecosystem wallet, is that your seed phrase will generate a different address if you later import it on an Ethereum wallet. You can generally get around this by generating a private key to use for importing, which keeps your address the same no matter the chain.

Nufinetes app is fairly unique in that it simply allows you to use the same address across both Vechain and Ethereum and BNB chain. The new Nufinetes extension does not do this intuitively, although there is a workaround that will allow it noted above..

VIMworld Mobile App

The VIMworld app currently offers the full VIMworld Ascendant experience, except for the off-chain Box, EGG, Incubator and Companion system, which will be added in a forthcoming update. You can buy VIMs from the Store, feed them your preferred currency, check their progress and harvest your rewards. You also have the ability to swap in the DeFi section, manage your VIMworld account, and direct access to play VIMglory.

As a breakthrough new feature, the app has a built-in wallet feature made in collaboration with our experienced Nufinetes wallet team. This allows you to create a new wallet or import your wallet keys to the app, giving a seamless experience once signed in. This alleviates any frustrations arising from going back and forth with a separate wallet app.

Wallet import options on VIMworld Mobile App

Similar to Nufinetes extension, the VIMworld app allows you to import with seed phrase or private key. Unlike the extension, you may only import on Ethereum. If your wallet originates from vechain, we therefore recommend using a private key to import.

On the Connect screen, select the ‘VIMworld wallet’ option. You may then connect with an already created wallet, create a new one, or import your previous wallet.

If importing a seed phrase, each word should be lowercase and have a single space between each one. This list can be useful if there is any doubt about the words in your seed phrase (e.g. due to unclear handwriting or mis-spelling).
