Vending Machines NFT and my dreams of a digital Tokyo Metaverse
I’m always on the look out for great NFT projects. When I find a good one, it really does feel like finding a diamond in the rough. There’s one project I’ve had my eye on for over a month and that is the very cool Vending Machines NFT project on the fabulous Avalanche network ($AVAX).
Last week, I told my friend about Vending Machines NFT (VM NFT). He is just getting into crypto. I’ve helped him get set up with Metamask and Avalanche. A lot of people want to learn about crypto but all they hear is the fud on the mainstream news or whatever. They don’t actually know anything except maybe the names of popular coins and that some random guy bought a mansion with the earnings they discovered in some long lost wallet because they were lucky enough to buy Bitcoin in 2012.
Anyway, I told my friend about VM NFT and he was like “Wow, you aren’t kidding, they are literally vending machines haha”. Yes, friend! What a concept, right? I was also very intrigued. But I decided to watch and wait before acquiring one. I noticed they weren’t selling out right away, so I figured I’d had some time. (I’ve also learned that some of the best projects don’t sell out right away - and actually, a fast mint can be a red flag!)
Over the last month or so I’ve been watching the project. I have to say, I think it’s great and it has huge potential for metaversal inter-accessibility (say that 5 times fast).

Alright, that sounds nice, but what about when they’re all minted?

With the Metaverse as our end goal, it creates a lot of opportunities for the VMN community to capitalize on. VMN holders will own lands in this metaverse, as well as having priority access on all future NFT items that will be created for the metaverse!
Awesome, so we will own some kind of digital land in a community-driven metaverse. In case you don’t know, NFT real estate is HUGE. A harmony project called DeFi Kingdoms already has its NFT lands selling for around the same as a flat in New York City (around $800,000 starting price). Chikn (the gold standard of Avalanche NFT) just launched its own FarmLand NFT with starting prices of 20–50 Avax on the first day).
Since VM NFT is early in development, the actual plans for how the vending machines will be distributed and used is still being developed.

So I have one idea for how to develop a successful metaverse:
JAPANESE INTEGRATION
(my dreams of a digital Tokyo metaverse)
In case you are unaware, Japan has the best vending machines in the world selling all sorts of wonderful things. I believe that VM NFT can cooperate with developers and perhaps other Avalanche projects to develop a shared interactive space where people can control their kawaii anime avatar around the digital city and then buy cool things at the vending machines that are parked there — kind of like in real-life Japan! Exactly what is sold or supplied at the VM NFT is being developed but I can already compare it to other NFT staking projects that utilizes supplies or items (such as Star Atlas on Solana or DeFi Kingdoms quest items on Harmony).
There is a lot of potential and it’s perfect that this project is on the best blockchain network (in my opinion) — Avalanche. Low fees, fast transactions, and lots of great projects with a great community (and pretty cool memes, too.) Some other great projects are already planning their own interactive metaverse such as Peng Family.
For example, Peng Family is planning on establishing a metaverse where the NFT allows the owner to control the avatar in the metaverse/game and interact with various features (similar to DeFi Kingdoms except actually moving around an avatar on screen like in a video g ame— the vending machine(s) could be one of the objects the avatar can interact with in addition to in-game features or perhaps links to decentralized exchanges for a seamless trading experience. It’s exciting because the project is well under way and there is SO much potential for awesome things.
Last but not least, I think it is very cool that a % of earnings will be used to help build schools. Of course, helping children have access to education is a reward in itself — actions like this can have positive rippling effects across our real universe and that could definitely affect the metaverse, too. It’s like that old wisdom “you reap what you sow”. Good vibes!
