The Ethereum Merge, Garage Sale and new Features.
Hi, warriors, this summer we’ve been heads down working on a unique set of features that should make your gaming experience better, safer and more enjoyable. Additionally, we’ve dedicated a lot of time to simulate different game scenarios in which BZN becomes a truly deflationary currency. Today, we will talk about the upcoming Ethereum merge, newly redesigned garage mechanics that will increase the BZN utility and other interesting features, such as the mini-map and flip kit.
Ethereum Merge
This fall, the current Ethereum Mainnet will merge with the Beacon Chain proof-of-stake system. This will mark the end of proof-of-work for our favorite blockchain and the full transition to proof-of-stake. This sets the foundation for future scaling upgrades, including sharding. The Merge is expected to reduce Ethereum’s energy consumption by ~99.95%.
At War Riders, we have been hard at work preparing a smooth transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake. At this stage, we believe that no action will be required from our players, and the migration will be solely handled on our side.
No action is required to upgrade on your part. Please beware of any scams asking you to migrate, and always follow the official guidelines from the War Riders team.
Redesigned Garage Sale
Our community is evolving, and so are our core game mechanics. This summer, we completely redesigned the upcoming garage sale to make it more attractive for our ecosystem. We hope that this will create long-term value for our players and increase BZN utility.
The garage owners can earn passive income by receiving a percentage of all tokens brought to any particular garage by the players. This is called the Entrance Fee, and it is distributed proportionally among the garage token holders.
To own a piece of a single garage, the players will have to acquire the Garage NFT Property Titles (NFTPT). They are the standard non-fungible tokens on the Ethereum blockchain that describe virtual garage ownership and define the functionality of the tokens. Each PT will grant access to the lifetime spawn privileges but will have a “renew term,” which defines the earning ability of the tokens. After the term expires, the player will have to pay a little bit of BZN in-game to continue earning passive income.
To save on the minting cost, the single Property Title will contain multiple tokens of a single garage. Max discount, rarity index and a little luck will define the ability to earn a significant renewal discount. Traditionally, the stats will be randomized at purchase, and the sale price will have a bonding curve.
We are expecting the garage sale to occur post-Ethereum merge, sometime in October. The exact date will be announced as soon as possible.
Mini-map and Flip Kit
The long-awaited and most-demanded Mini-map and Flip Kit features are undergoing final testing and debugging. The Mini-map should help the players navigate the Wasteland, while the Flip Kit will help with upright positioning. The Flip Kit will create an additional BZN utility, similar to the NOS kit.
Account Deletion is Going Live Next Week.
We care about your privacy. A few months ago, we announced the secure account sharing feature and advised everyone to stop sharing passwords. We hope that everyone has safely transitioned to the new system.
Starting next week, the users will be able to delete their gaming accounts and all associated data for good. To delete your account, log in to your gaming account here and click the delete button. Please beware that this action is final, and all funds and data associated with your gaming account will be lost forever. Note: this action does not delete your NFTs or any tokens on the blockchain.
We strongly recommend that everyone change their passwords and start using the new secure account sharing system before the Account Deletion launch.
Potential BZN Migration and Blacklisting
In July, the War Riders team received a message that the hedge fund that owned most of the liquidity in the BZN-ETH Uniswap pool got hacked. The BZN tokens from the pool moved to the unknown wallet. The head of the fund promised a bounty if the tokens were safely returned, and some community members provided additional liquidity for the hacker to dump the tokens. However, no bounty was claimed, and the tokens were not dumped.
Please note that no War Riders or team members were hacked. Our security remains strong, and no vulnerabilities were discovered. The seed phrase of one of the hedge fund employees (not associated with War Riders) was stolen, which resulted in the loss of funds. Many other tokens were stolen along with BZN, which is something no one is able to control. As always, you are individually responsible for the safety of your seed phrase/private key.
Since the community was not able to arrive at a consensus on whether WR should fork BZN and introduce the blacklisting functionality, War Riders will not fork BZN at this stage. A lot of our community members stand with the traditional values of the blockchain and would like to remain immutable to any centralized actions. We also share these values and would like to continue promoting decentralization in all parts of the Wasteland. As a consequence, the liquidity program announced earlier will be redesigned and adjusted for the current situation. Please stay tuned.
