Sentinels Program Phase IV

Here we go! Once again it’s time for our latest installment of the Talisman Sentinels Program. Sentinels are community-driven roles that represent Talisman at the frontiers of the Paraverse, whether in terms of product support, content production, or helping shape product direction.
The Sentinel Role, a Recap
A quick Internet search will tell you that a Sentinel is a “terrifying killing machine that patrols the caverns beneath the planet’s surface.” We can assure you that, as a Sentinel, you will not be encouraged to exhibit any terrifying behaviors. Rather, you will serve as:
- An extension of the core team, otherwise known as the “Guardians”;
- Passionate advocates of Talisman amongst the Polkadot ecosystem;
- A voice for the community and a driver of discussion.
Evolution of Sentinels
As we’ve described several times in the past, the Sentinels Program is structured in phases in order to allow for a process of learning and improvement. During each phase, we learn from the process and we adjust our methods.
For those learning about Sentinels for the first time, here is a brief summary of how the program has evolved across the past phases:
- Phase I: Kicked-off Sentinels Program, with a self-driven pitch-based work process
- Phase II: Reorganized the program into 2 functional teams, each with a Sentinel captain
- Phase III: Split into 4 more-focused team duties, with smaller team sizes
Phase IV: Back to Basics
So what’s new in Phase IV? The theme of this phase is back to basics, where we refocus the program on tasks that enable a better product and support experience for our users. As the core features of Talisman has move beyond just the wallet into other applications such as staking, we have to provide support for a continuously growing range of user actions.
Various changes have been made to enable the Sentinels Program to tie it more closely to the core activities and mission of Talisman: to build and deliver the best Polkadot/Ethereum wallet.
These adjustments include:
- More emphasis on product — All roles will be more closely tied to delivering core Product value
- Beefing up the Paraverse Watch — More openings have been added to Paraverse Watch to ensure increased support coverage.
- New team structure with new responsibilities — Phase IV teams are organized around three focus areas, together which combine to support Talisman’s core activities:
- Support: Deliver a superior help experience for our users
- Content: Create ecosystem and product related guides and info
- Product: Ensure product quality and support internationalization
Team Structure
Phase IV teams are organized as follows.
Paraverse Watch
Our community’s first line of defense.
- Respond to bug reports and manage tickets
- 24/7 Discord moderation & help desk
- Maintain help documentation
Broadcasters
Masters of frequency and wavelength.
- Prepare Talisman Meditations flow
- Record, edit, and post Meditations content
- Produce demos and other informational content
Stewards
Protectors of product quality.
- QA and pre-release testing
- Moderate international Discord channels
- Translate announcements, articles, documentation and locales
Program Incentives
Does the Sentinel program interest you? Besides the chance to work with closely with the Talisman Guardians and fellow Sentinels, the Sentinel Program also offers the following compensation in exchange for your time.
Compensation — For certain roles, Sentinels will be compensated every two weeks in USD equivalent amount of KSM.
Commendations —For certain roles, Sentinels will be compensated with Commendations NFT’s. Outstanding contributions will also be awarded with Commendations.
Sentinel Status — Sentinels also receive a unique Discord role, with access to private Discord channels to engage with other Sentinels and Guardians.
“Career” Mobility — You can also shift roles and progress into other responsibilities as you prove your capabilities on the server.

- Familiar and active within the Polkadot ecosystem, ideally with experience across various dapps;
- Dedicated users of Talisman who are not only able to use our software, but able to provide informed suggestions on improvements;
- A positive and passionate attitude to build and evolve with us.
