Long time, no blog, friends! Erin and I are super stoked to be pouring some love into WLTB and getting back to what our tagline says: diving deep into big cans and bigger dreams.

If you didn’t read Erin’s post last week, she found out a while ago that she’s gluten intolerant and can’t drink a lot of beers anymore (hence our long, out of nowhere, very sad break). So while WLTB is coming back, we’re going to be doing it with a twist; focusing not only on beer but also a variety of ciders and maybe even some hard seltzers? Who knows — the world is our oyster! But anyway, let’s get to the actual reviewing, shall we?

To show my solidarity, I thought my first post back would be reviewing a gluten-free beer. Last week when I went to the store to pick up one of my favorite summertime beers (review to come, for sure), I decided to also do a build your own six-pack and try out a bunch of new stuff. While I was perusing the various cans in my local Wegman’s, one stood out among all the rest not only because it was an actual tall boy, but because in big, orange letters it said, “GLUTEN-FREE.” Instantly, I just knew I had to pick it up and see what this beer was all about. So let’s dive in:

#TeamFireNation

Beer name: Glutenberg Gose

Brewery, city, and country of origin: Glutenberg Brewery, Quebec, ON, Canada 🇨🇦 Side note, y’all need to click that hyperlink and check out their website because it’s so visually appealing

Brewery Founded: 2011

ABV: 3.5% ABV

Taste: The first word that comes to mind is “zing.” I don’t typically gravitate toward sour beers and I can’t even remember the last time I had one, but this tastes like a sour. I’m getting a lot of citrus-forward notes, mostly lemon and orange and possibly a little bit of lime? It’s kind of all over the place, but pretty enjoyable on the whole. Though I will say, if you don’t like a flavorful beer, this one isn’t going to be for you, fam.

How Do I Feel? I feel refreshed! This is a great beer that screams summertime. It’s easy to drink in the sense that it’s really light, all while packing a flavorful punch. I’m sipping on this beer while enjoying a bowl of vegan noodles and tofu while watching Avatar The Last Airbender. I find that the juxtaposition between the tangy, sour beer and the savory noodle bowl is really tasty and enjoyable.

Poundability: 4.5/10. While it could be a beer that you pound, I don’ t think I’d recommend it unless you want a hefty amount of sour and tang to upper-cut you in the mouth.

When To Drink Glutenberg Gose: This is definitely going to be a summertime staple beer. A six-pack would be perfect to bring along with you on a day when you’re enjoying the sunshine in some way. Pack this in a picnic basket along with your favorite charcuterie board shareables, and you can’t go wrong.

Overall: 6/10. I enjoyed the can art and the different flavor experience that Glutenberg Gose delivered, but overall, this isn’t a beer that I’m going to run out to the store to pick up again.
