GlitchDeck NFT Project Update — Lowering the Mint Price By 10x to 0.004 ETH (~$10 USD)
A quick update about a project of mine from early 2023.
Last year, I had this big idea to create 90 gigs of animated NFTs. I don’t know what I was thinking, as the processing alone tied up my machine for about 4 days (not to mention all of the coding!). But, sometimes we devs think of things to do, and we just do them because it’s challenging and fun.
My idea at the time (explained thoroughly here) was to give away thousands of these to 500 holders of another NFT set, and those 500 people might serve as my marketing arm, getting word out to the masses (which, let’s face it, is the #1 toughest part about NFTs, including the tech). Without marketing, even the most innovative NFT project will simply linger in obscurity. And that’s a tough lesson to learn, believe me!
Anyway, while 160+ people took me up on my offer, the marketing idea here didn’t really work. I think part of it is/was becaus of how difficult it is to share a GIF versus a normal JPG. With a JPG, you can just copy/paste into Twitter, whereas with GIFs you have to save them down to your machine and then re-upload to share. Plus, some of these are/were 15+MB and Twitter has 15Mb as a limit for GIFs (unlike JPGs, I…
