Amen to that! There’s nothing wrong with conceptual discussions or motivational talks, but it’s generally a good idea to keep them separate from skills development…
Same here- for me, the key is that my phone is used for communication and my iPad for information consumption/creation…. I do, however, realize that it is not that way for everyone!

All good points! You may want to mention trends underway in deep learning, quantum computing, and renewable energy, as well… I think that this point is extremely important for readers to grasp. I suspect that part of the cause of the problem you highlight may be our reluctance to embrace intellectual diversity.

At the end of the day, interviewing is rather like statistical sampling… you pick your metrics with the understanding that no metrics will cover all possible scenarios. Whiteboards are not inherently better across the board than other methods, but to the extent that they show thought processes, I think they do have some value.
Further, how do we maintain democracies without quality analyses of the future? Someone needs to tackle not only what the people want to hear but also what they’re going to need to hear. We need to lead the target instead of aiming at it!
That’s not just journalism’s way forward… that’s society’s way forward, as well. We truly are all in this together, whether we like it or not!
