Welcome to the latest edition of the WiFi Map Digest!

We’re continuing to make improvements to the app and broader WiFi Map ecosystem as we expand our presence in Web3 and support the stable development of our token economy.

Here’s a quick recap of the last fortnight in the WiFi Map ecosystem.

Trading competition

Earlier this week, we launched a brand new trading competition, offering incredible Buy Bonus rewards for locking up $WIFI tokens.

Anyone who purchases at least 5,000 $WIFI on the OKX DEX can enjoy the following rewards:

  • 30% bonus for holding for one month
  • 40% bonus for holding for two months
  • 50% bonus for holding for three months

The first 5 million $WIFI tokens claimed and staked are eligible for rewards, so hurry up and head to the OKX DEX!

Airdrop

The first WiFi Map in-app airdrop was held on 7 April, the day of the $WIFI TGE, bringing retroactive rewards to tens of thousands of historical contributors. We’ve just issued rewards to everybody who participated in the second in-app airdrop competition, covering the period from 1 March to 30 April this year. There were 350,000 $WIFI up for grabs among users of the new, $WIFI wallet-enabled version of the WiFi Map app.

Here are the rewards for the top contributors:

1. 3,000 $WIFI

2. 1,500 $WIFI

3. 1,200 $WIFI

But it doesn’t stop there. The user who placed tenth received an impressive 650 $WIFI tokens, while the 100th ranking contributor was awarded 106 tokens. Even the 1,000th most active contributor received 23 $WIFI, and smaller rewards have been issued to almost 39,000 active users on the platform. Those of you who added just one hotspot will find 7 $WIFI tokens waiting for you in the in-app wallet. The highest-ranking contributor added 612 new hotspots to the app and ran unique speed tests on 229 hotspots, earning 62,345 points during the two-month period.

Congratulations to the winners and everybody who participated. To join in the next competition, which is already live, simply download the latest version of the WiFi Map app and start making contributions by adding hotspots, verifying credentials, and running internet speed tests.

Media mentions

It’s been another exciting fortnight in the crypto media sphere! We’ve been featured in a handful of interesting articles across the space over the last couple of weeks.

TradeCrypto, one of the highest profile outlets covering the blockchain, NFTs and the metaverse has published an in-depth feature about us. It covers the basics of how our ecosystem works, our new Web3 era and the exchanges where you can trade $WIFI. Check it out here.

We were also featured by Metatalks, which focuses on new trends in Web3. The article looks at the impact of social media on the world of crypto and the interesting ways in which the two industries are intersecting. You can find it here. Blockchain-powered publishing platform Publish0x, meanwhile, are hosting a new piece looking at our connect-to-earn model, which can be found here.

Buyback

It feels like it was only yesterday that we welcomed $WIFI into the world with the TGE and first listing on the OKX exchange. Now, just over one month after our token began circulating in the WiFi Map ecosystem and beyond, we’ve held our first buyback.

After another record-breaking month of user growth and product sales, we bought back $WIFI and set them aside for the future WiFi Map DAO. This will enable our community to participate in important decisions in our Web3 future.

Buybacks represent our commitment to the future expansion of WiFi Map in Web3, and the greater involvement of our amazing, millions-strong community in the decision-making process. Stay tuned for more information about our buyback programme.

Right-to-left support

Our development teams are still hard at work bringing new features and functionality to the WiFi Map app! We’re now in the process of rolling out support for right-to-left languages. This will greatly enhance the user experience for native speakers of languages such as Arabic, which is our first right-to-left language to launch in the app.
