President Pence Is Just a Different Kind of Dangerous

Anyone who’s ever grazed the sandpaper of an actual fig leaf knows the Bible isn’t literal. Nor does it have to be in order to offer a wealth of history, parables, and an unending New Testament call to love one another.

But Christian Supremacy, referred to by others as White Christian Supremacy, is vying for the highest office in the land.

New Jersey blueberry pageant princess and senior Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway explained Mike Pence as a “full-spectrum conservative.” Vice presidential historian Joel K. Goldstein called him the “Sycophant-in-Chief.”

And this week, America learned that the most loyal sidekick in vice-presidential history since William Rufus King can be remarkably funny — and with enviable equanimity. It was … unexpected.

The Evangelical who famously calls his wife “mother”, Pence was stumping in Iowa when he was cursed out by a fellow elderly white man.

“Get the f*** out of our country and get the f*** out of Iowa!” a furious attendee hollered at Pence, who remained completely physically unfazed.

Without hesitating and with a sliver of a smile, Pence casually remarked, “I’m gonna mark him down as a maybe.”¹
