Photo of an Asian woman with long, black hair sitting on wide stairs and looking in the far distance ahead of her. She’s wearing black pants and a dark orange coloured long-sleeve sweater. Her left arm rests across her knees, and her right elbow rests on her right knee, her hand up near her mouth. The background is concrete stairs with some glass railings, maybe bleachers. It looks empty and bleak. No one else is around. It’s daylight, but cloudy or grey. She’s alone.

Our connection was instant.

He said he loved me. Oh, how I wanted to be loved.

We pledged to be together. I only had to await his quick return: a day, maybe two.

Days turned to a fortnight.

Will he return? Or am I left with memories and false promises?
