As mentioned in my earlier blog, each student has different ideal study spaces. To reflect this point and develop the idea of choice and variation further, we design the study pods to have mechanical shading systems to allow flexibility.

The mechanical shading system allows students to adjust the amount of light they want inside their study space. Since some students can be easily distracted when seeing people around them, the shading system will allow them to control how much they want to see and to be exposed to the surroundings (adjust the level of distraction).

The idea of the shading system is also applied to our food stalls. For the food area, the mechanical system works as a cover rather than a shading device. The cover can be open up and become a shelter at the top during the operating hours and can be shut when the stall is closed.
