👋 Hey There! Today, we close out our summer intern experience mini-series with part III, ft. Ethan, our Product Management intern, and Ayomikun (Daniel) Adegoke, our Mobile Engineering intern 🌟

📖 ICYMI 👉 Check out part I & part II

First up, let’s hear from Ethan:

“This past summer, I worked as a Product Management intern at WeightWatchers. As part of the member education team, my project focused on determining the efficacy of various in-app messaging patterns, more specifically with educating users on how to successfully interact with WW’s application. I was pleasantly surprised that, at such a large company, I was able to do work that would be seen by real WeightWatchers members and would directly impact WW’s application.

The organized structure of this internship led directly to its impact and success. I was paired with an amazing manager who included me in important meetings, taught me about the product management role during weekly educational sessions, and answered any questions that I had. In addition, I learned a lot from different speaker sessions from high-level employees who were focused on educating the interns on various aspects of the company. Finally, all of WW’s employees were very approachable and welcoming. I connected with, networked, and learned from team members and fellow intern peers.

I have never learned as much as I have in such a short period of time as I had during this internship. In just 11 weeks, I enhanced my product management expertise and learned to effectively roadmap a product, lead a team of designers, engineers, and analysts, and use software such as Jira and Figma. I also improved my decision-making skills and learned how to leverage research and data to make informed decisions and successfully prioritize the decisions I make. Finally, I further developed my communication skills, learned how to listen and adapt to feedback, and experienced what it takes to cultivate a collaborative team environment. I truly valued my internship experience at WeightWatchers, and I know that the skills I learned throughout the program will help me throughout my life, and my career.

Thanks for sharing, Ethan! Up next, we’ll hear from Ayomikun, our Mobile Engineering intern:

“This summer, I worked as a Mobile (Android) Engineering Intern on the growth team. My tasks throughout the program focused on projects that laddered up to the organization’s broader effort to modernize its codebase.

From the first day of my internship, my manager made me feel so comfortable and an important part of the team. I was provided with all of the resources I needed to succeed and most importantly, the team was always ready and willing to help troubleshoot any challenges I faced.

In my third week of WW’s internship program, I had already begun contributing to the codebase which was a very exciting moment for me. The work culture at WeightWatchers is something I have never experienced before. Everyone wants you to succeed.”

-Ayomikun Adegoke, Mobile Engineering Intern
