Whew. In compiling a year-end wrap-up of 2021 and what Xend Finance has achieved, we actually had to reduce this list by a third. While there were many “honorable mentions”, we didn’t want you to lose focus on the major product developments and growth we achieved in 2021. Sequentially taking a look at the list will show you our growth trajectory as well as how we are positioning ourselves for massive 2022 growth with many of our core products built out.

As you may know, we announced our Mainnet launch on March 22 of this year and have not taken our foot off the pedal since. Our international team has grown to over 40 employees, with key members in Africa, China, India, and the United States. This has allowed us to have a worldwide footprint and presence as we continue to grow.

While it has been tough at times to deal with constant pushing of code, we are proud of what we have accomplished. More importantly, we are proud that we are making a difference in bringing DeFi to everyday people, as well as a Layer-2 infrastructure for developers to build upon.

Without further ado, let’s take a look back:

January 7 — Xend Finance wraps up three-week-long incentivized testnet of core features of the first DeFi platform for Credit Unions, Cooperatives, and Individuals. Over 75 countries participated! (More)

February 26 — Xend Finance successfully completes first smart contract audit by Certik ahead of mainnet launch. This was the first of three voluntary audits we commissioned to ensure the security of our product. (More)

March 22 — Xend Finance officially launches, becoming the first DeFi project to launch out of Africa, as well as the first Binance Smart Chain-built company to launch out of Africa. (More)

March 22 (as well) — Coverage of the launch was featured in TechCrunch, Coindesk, and Decrypt.

April 8 — Xend Finance’s $XEND token available on Binance Smart Chain and PancakeSwap. (More)

June 1 — Xend Finance launches staking program in partnership with DeFiCliq for APYs up to 15%. (More)

June 3 — Xend Finance launches free blockchain and DeFi education platform, Xend Finance Academy. (More)

June 10 — Xend Finance announces APYs of up to 70% for long term savers. (More)

July 1 — Xend Finance announces Referral Rewards Program to incentivize users for introducing Xend Finance to new members. (More)

August 19 — Xend Finance announces $1 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) on the platform. (More)

September 10 — Xend Finance launches free Layer-2 DeFi SDK for developers to build upon. (More)

September 16 — Xend Finance announces first hackathon, Xend Finance DeFi Hackathon 2021, featuring Mike Novogratz as keynote speaker, along with Binance, Google, Huobi, Coindesk, and Cointelegraph as judges. (More)

September 20 — $XEND token available on Polygon and Huobi ECO Chains. (More)

October 20 — Xend Finance introduces the first — and only — launchpad for African entrepreneurs to gain more exposure, resources, and investment opportunities, while also allowing anyone to invest in early stage companies. (More)

December 2 — Xend Finance launches first cryptocurrency high yield aggregator across multiple blockchains — an industry first. (More)

December 2 — The Xend Finance mobile app launches on iOS and Android, bringing crypto banking for everyone at the touch of their fingertips. (More)

December 7Wicrypt, a WiFi sharing and monetization network, becomes the first project to launch on Xend Launchpad. (More)

December 15 — Xend Finance launches native token ($XEND) staking platform, bringing up to 100% APR to members. (More)

While we don’t view this as a competition with other blockchain companies, particularly since no one does exactly what we do, we would hold our product release schedule against any other company’s schedule.

Having grown into one of Africa’s largest and fastest-growing blockchain projects, we must move as quickly as the world around us. The global economy is rapidly changing and we want to make sure that those in underserved communities have access to stable currencies, decentralized finance, and interest rates that are secure, safe, and the highest anywhere on any chain.

This is a mission that we hold dear to us and you will see that in what we will accomplish in 2022. Stay tuned for our 2022 roadmap coming in the next few days!

Thank you for supporting us and we look forward to rewarding you for that faith.

Sincerely,
Kevin Leu
