Low back pain

Low back pain is a complaint from most people. This is experienced mainly due to overwork and improper weight lifting. The hip joint is the main weight bearing part of the body. Over load at hip joints affects the low back. Travelling on a bumpy road usually results in low back pain. It could be muscular pain or developed due to strain. Standing or sitting for a prolonged period due to nature of work may also result in low back pain.

Nerve impingement of L4 and L5 discs may cause numbness/tingling, and may also lead to travelling pain in any one, or both the legs.

The primary remedy for pain in the low back is rest. Additionally, doing abdominal breathing with elevated legs will help.

To build anything strong, the foundation beneath should be strong. For a human being, legs are the foundation. The hip joint acts as a base for the rest of the body. Hence, it is imperative to keep the legs with appropriate strength.

You might have seen people drawing water from the well with the help of a pulley, rope and bucket. Normally the bucket will have the capacity of 3 to 5 liters to draw water easily from the well by using the pulley. Some people will tie the pot with the capacity of 10 to 12 liters in the snooze to draw more water in one go.

If you observe these people, they would be standing with their legs spread out at shoulder width with their body weight distributed equally in both legs. This balancing is the natural intelligence of the body. Here, both the legs and arms have to be strong to draw the water. This was a great form of workout for the hip in the past.
