#nevicata14LAB was a month of activities that #nevicata14 team led in Expo Gate, Milano during April 2015. For all the 4 weeks the team has moved all its work to “spazio Garibaldi” to monitor the construction process in the square and prepare the basis for the new space coming to the city. This involved series of talks and workshop with international and local experts, citizens, stakeholders, students and everyone who was interested in topics of public space as a commons and new urban welfare models.

#nevicata14 LAB was a collaborative environment of open sessions to better know and understand #nevicata14, but also contribute to its definition and development. It had a daily program of presentations, workshop activities, social events, debates, that put Milan for a month in the center of the most innovative public space processes.

28 days / 4 weeks, 26 talks, 11 ColLABs, 10 public meetings, 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 3 holidays spent together, 1 cinelab, 2 picnics, 2 teams, 3 parties:

Space:

We have personalized the space developing particular variation of visual identity and also finding the way to involve everyone in its creation.

Little citizens were happy to participate in the space decoration *_*

We decided to use the glass walls as the screen to represent our work and activities going on inside. It had a “calendar”applied to it, signalizing each date of our presence in Expogate, under which we were putting materials produced during that day and announcements about the future events planned. This was another tactics of sharing work with people and opening #nevicata14 to the citizens.

In the end of the Lab all the stickers were saved for the future use ;)

Handcrafted #nevicata14:

One of the favorite activities during #nevicata14lab was the stamping lab. From the beginning #nevicata14 was thought as an open space for everyone to contribute to it, the same value was represented in the flexible identity. The next logical step was to invite everyone to participate in it. Together we have created stamps for the elements and decorated various objects with it, letting people to bring some pieces of #nevicata14 with them.

What I did at #nevicata14LAB:

  • coordinating team of 5 people, overseeing the creation of program and of contacts with participants and partners;
  • events and talks coordination and facilitation;
  • documentation and communication — social media strategy and its implementation, creation of the archive of materials of LAB, final report;
  • design and application of #nevicata14 visual identity to LAB context;
  • a lot of carving and stamping;
  • had 2 days off in 28 days… %)
