In today’s digital age, user-generated content (UGC) has emerged as a powerful tool for centering the voices of marginalized audiences. It provides a platform for individuals from underrepresented communities to share their stories, perspectives, and experiences, allowing them to reclaim their narratives and challenge dominant narratives that often overlook or marginalize their voices.

At Women’s Weekly Journal, our dedication to empowering women in rural and marginalized communities remains steadfast. As part of my capstone project for the Innovate360 program, I have embarked on an ambitious initiative to implement a comprehensive user-generated content (UGC) strategy for my organization.

This initiative aims to actively engage our audience in content creation, fostering a stronger sense of community and driving increased engagement. My motivation for this project stems from a deep-seated commitment to amplifying women’s voices and addressing their unique perspectives and experiences.

Through harnessing UGC, my aim is twofold: to expand our reach and foster a deeper connection with our audience. By involving our readers in content creation, we not only cultivate a sense of ownership and community but also lay the foundation for future revenue streams.

Over the coming months, I will undertake a series of activities to bring our UGC strategy to fruition. This includes conducting extensive research to understand our audience’s preferences and behaviors, organizing workshops to further enhance our community’s content creation skills, and enhancing our digital platforms to streamline content submission and curation processes.

If you would like to support me through generous feedback, insights or ideas, please reach out to me on WhatsApp at +263 783 164 201. Your support would strengthen this effort to amplify marginalized voices.
