Recapping Playtest #1

Before we dive into the details of Playtest #2, let’s briefly cover what a ZTX Playtest is and what happened in #1.

Playtests are playable ‘mini-versions’ that introduce aspects of ZTX’s immersive world and gameplay to users. The primary purpose of the Playtests is to gather feedback from users ahead of our Bera launch so we can deliver the best experience possible.

We launched Playtest #1 at the end of July which focused on ZTX Decorator mode. To participate in this Playtest, community members had to acquire one of the limited Access Passes. The interest in and takeaways from Playtest #1 was tremendous. We quickly ran out of access passes and received feedback from all types of users which has helped us shape the game further. With Playtest #2 being open to the public, we look forward to introducing ZTX to many more community members.

What’s Different in Playtest #2?

A lot.

In Playtest #1, testers were introduced to one aspect of the ZTX gameplay — decorator mode. Players received a plot of land that was pre-decorated with a Home. They could then customize their property from an inventory of ‘pre-built’ items. Playtest #2 still offers decorator mode, but introduces players to multiple new game modes, actions, and decisions they’ll need to make while playing ZTX.

Most notably, Playtest #2 introduces harvesting and crafting gameplay.

Playtest #2 still offers decorator mode, but introduces players to multiple new game modes, actions, and decisions they’ll need to make while playing ZTX.

Playtest #2 also introduces more on-chain aspects of gameplay and account management.

Firstly, testers are now able to create and log in via a ZTX Account. ZTX accounts are Web3 wallets that are managed by a user’s preferred social recovery keys. Such smart accounts make it possible to interact with the on-chain aspects of ZTX while providing users with a frictionless experience. Equipped with ZTX Accounts, testers need to confirm certain gameplay actions on-chain. ZTX will automatically subsidize the testnet gas needed to perform such actions, saving testers the headache of acquiring testnet $ETH.

With that said, here’s a glimpse of what to expect:

  • Land and Home — these do NOT come pre-decorated with any assets. Instead, you must engage in gameplay to create these decorative items first.
  • Assets — there is no pre-built assets to decorate with. Instead, players need to decide what to craft.
  • New player tutorial — which guides users through the aspects of harvesting, crafting and trading.
  • Harvesting & extracting — the ability to plant organics and harvest them in addition to extracting minerals.
  • Crafting — a list of recipes to craft assets using the harvested materials and extracted minerals via the fusion forge.
  • Trading & Gold — users areable to trade in harvested organics and extracted minerals for gold. Gold can then be used in gameplay to purchase minerals, and organics, and pay for crafting.

At first, trading will happen between the player and the game. In the future, players will be able to trade directly with one another.

  • Inventory management — Users are able to access their newly crafted assets and any purchased assets, including wearables
  • New Avatar Set Up Experience — after creating a ZTX Account, testers are greeted with an improved Avatars Creation experience. Select from presets or start fresh. Testers can edit their existing avatars and save new creations before proceeding to their land.

First time hearing about crafting, or extracting, gold?
Don’t worry — the new player tutorial and in-game instructions will help bring you up to speed. However, discovering a new game and the strategy that comes with it is part of the experience.

Get Ready (+Alpha)

We hope you’re as excited as we are about Playtest #2. While this is an opportunity for you to get a glimpse of what’s to come, by participating and providing feedback you are also playing a crucial role in shaping the final product.

To show our appreciation for the community members who test, a portion of the airdrop is allocated to Playtest testers.

The official Playtest #2 is live only for a short period of time!
