ZTX Playtest #1 is Live!
ZTX Playtests offer users an opportunity to take part in the journey leading up to the open world launch
We are thrilled to share that the first official ZTX Playtest is now LIVE!
What are ZTX Playtests?
Playtests are beta versions of ZTX’s immersive 3D open world application. Each Playtest focuses on a specific area of ZTX’s gameplay such as exploring the land, decorating your home, crafting and harvesting while also aiming to gather feedback from the Playtesters to help improve user experiences.
The Playtests are accessible to a select group of participants who obtain a ZTX Access Pass, which can be earned through community initiatives. (If you’re keeping up with the Building ZTX Newsletter you’d already have all the alpha)
Today’s blog will cover the upcoming Playtest timeline and ZTX Access Passes (and how to get one). Let’s dive in!
Playtest Timeline
There will be 3 rounds of Playtests, each categorized by the aspect of the gameplay it will introduce such as Decorating, Crafting, and Harvesting.
Playtests will only be open for about a week, meaning that users will need to access and test the Beta during that period to be able to provide feedback and benefit from the rewards.
The first of the Playtests introduces the ZTX Decorator Mode. In this mode of gameplay, users will be able to explore and customize their 3D land and homes as their ZTX Avatars. The property will come pre-decorated and users will be able to freely remove and select from an inventory of items. More details on the gameplay and subsequent Playtests will be provided closer to the releases, along with screenshots.
* Keep in mind that only a small subset of items will be provided in the first Playtest and that you will need to create a new avatar to participate.
The Playtest releases will build on top of one another, meaning that during Playtest 2, users will still be able to enter the Decorator Mode. These Playtest releases will lead up to ZTX’s Beta launch on Arbitrum’s mainnet.
ZTX Access Passes
To participate in the Playtests, users will need to obtain a ZTX Access Pass. Access Passes are non-transferable tokens that are awarded to community members for their involvement.
Access to Playtests was intentionally gated due to various reasons, specifically to reward early community members (see below) and because of the team’s aim to work closely with those who participate. There will be limited Access Passes available and the amount of Access Passes granted will increase for each Playtests, making the very first Playtest the hardest to participate in.
An Access Pass airdrop will take place prior to each Playtest release. Access Pass holders of earlier Playtests will be able to participate in later Playtests. For example, if Alice gets airdropped with the first Playtest Access Pass, then she will be able to participate in subsequent Playtests as well.
How to get an Access Pass?
There are 2 routes to earning yourself a ZTX Access Pass:
- Genesis Citizens
All holders of the “Genesis Citizen” role in Discord will be rewarded with an Access Pass. This role is awarded to our most active community members individually — for their involvement in community initiatives. We are constantly on the lookout to reward contributors and content creators — reach out to us!
2. Participate in ZTX Quests
Leading up to each Playtest, there will be a series of challenges hosted on ZTX’s Questboard. By participating in these challenges, you may be eligible for an Access Pass. Here is how to participate (it’s easy!):
- Login with your Twitter, Discord and preferred wallet at: https://zealy.io/c/ztx/questboard
- Browse and complete Twitter & Discord challenges — keep an eye on our announcements to make sure you don’t miss any chances to earn a Playtest Access Pass
- Log in daily to discover new challenges and accumulate points!
⚠️ Make sure you log in to Zealy with a Metamask mobile wallet. All Playtesters must use a Metamask mobile wallet to access the build, and this is the wallet that needs to hold the Access Pass.
The quests for Playtest #1 ended on July 19, EST and the top 200 community participants were rewarded with an Access Pass. The quests for Playtest #2 will be added to the questboard after Playtest #1 and prior to announcing the date of Playtest #2.
What if I am a Genesis Citizen? Can/should I participate in Quests?
Short answer — YES! If you are already a Genesis Citizen, you can still participate in the upcoming quests and if you win a second pass — you will be able to submit a 2nd wallet address (gift it to a friend of your choice).
Rewarding Playtests Participants
Access passes will be very limited. Why? As mentioned above — our team wants to be hands-on with all of the users in order to translate their feedback into actionable improvements. But also because the Playtesters will be eligible for the $ZTX airdrop happening later this year.
Yup, you heard that right.
At ZTX, Playtests present an opportunity to engage our earliest and most active community members and we wanted to focus on rewarding those who have been here since Day 1 as well as those who have played an active role in shaping our journey. The Playtest airdrop system was designed to reward the earliest community members, meaning that each Playtest will have a $ZTX token allocation. Further details will be shared in our upcoming Newsletter Series ‘Building ZTX’ as well as on our Discord and Twitter so make sure to check it out.
So, what is left for you to do?
The Discord Playtest section will go live alongside the Playtest release. It will include an FAQ with tutorials on how to download the Playtest, what to test, and how to report bugs. This Playtest forum in Discord will serve as the hub for all discussions, feedback, and takeaways regarding the Playtest and we’ll be hosting livestreams soon!
