This month’s Townhall took place over 2 parts. Part 1 was the livestream where Karma, ZTX’s head of marketing, shared project updates and interviewed two of ZTX’s earliest investors. The 2nd part of the Townhall was an AMA with ZTX team members and took place in Discord.
ZTX Chain Unveiled
On April 16th, we announced our plans to develop a ZTX Chain in Q3 ’24. Leveraging Arbitrum’s Orbit Technology, our team will develop a purpose-built blockchain to address the needs of players and help onboard ZEPETO’s 500 million lifetime users into the ZTX ecosystem.
This milestone announcement comes as a response to the growing demand for scalability and accessibility. During the Beta testing phase and our cross-platform campaign on ZEPETO, where we onboarded over 200k wallets to Arbitrum in under 20 hours, the necessity of a dedicated chain tailored to our players’ needs has become abundantly clear. It will also pave the way for the planned ZTX mobile app.
ZTX Downtown
We teased the idea of what a ZTX Downtown, our first open-world player experience, could look like during our last Townhall. Since then, our design and game development teams have been heads down building the world and on April 17th we tweeted a sneak peek.
Witness Pepe (one of our newest avatar skins) as he runs through the streets of the ZTX Downtown. From futuristic skyscrapers to artistic alleyways, our design team has focused on every small detail of the ZTX Downtown to make it a truly immersive experience. The Downtown will have aspects of ZTX’s 4 districts, Finance, Art, Fashion, and Gaming, along with mini-games. This was still an early sneak peek at what is just the beginning of a grander vision for an open-world city within the evolving ZTX world map.
Gameplay Challenges
One of the biggest updates to gameplay over the past month was the release of challenges. You are now able to access daily and weekly challenges to complete and earn points.
To participate in challenges:
- Click on the 🏆icon in the top right of the game
- Select Daily or weekly
- Select your type of challenge (extracting, harvesting, or crafting)
- Play and complete the challenge to collect points!
In the coming weeks we will be releasing a points leaderboard and more on the utility of points 👀
Skins, Partners, Placeables & More
At ZTX, we aim to consistently give users new assets to express themselves and use inside of ZTX. As such, we recently launched Skins — an option to customize your appearance while still being able to utilize the collected wearables. The first example of this is the Pepe skin, which Karma showed off during the Townhall. Soon after, we released the Vitalik skin which is available to the first 120 users who craft it.
Every week our team aims to release new packages of items for players to craft. In addition to these, we will be working with protocols and brands to release their own collections of ZTX assets. We recently released a Kevin placeable as part of our partnership with Mon Protocol. This is just an example of how ZTX will become a platform for projects and brands to utilize their IPs and launch collections for the community.
Insights from the Investor Fireside Chat
Karma was joined by two of ZTX’s earliest investors, Stephen McKeon of Collab Currency and Julian Gropp, whose insights shed light on the rationale behind their investments and their outlook on the future of web3 gaming.

“What made you believe in ZTX?”
Stephen: For us at Collab, it’s all about the team. ZTX boasts a team with unmatched experience and capabilities. Additionally, ZTX’s affiliation with ZEPETO is a game-changer. To truly build a succesfull crypto game, tapping into the broader web2 gamer user base is essential, and ZTX’s ability to do this with ZEPETO’s massive user base is exciting. Moreover, we see immersive environments as one of the biggest markets of the next decade.
Julian: I echo Stephen’s sentiments. Building successful games is notoriously challenging, but ZTX’s head start with ZEPETO made it an easy investment decision. Not only does ZTX have access to a massive user base, but the team’s understanding of user behavior will help significatnly. Witnessing firsthand the potential of ZTX while observing a friend’s child playing the ZEPETO app solidified my confidence in the project’s ability to onboard users who might otherwise be untouched by web3.
“Where do you see the web3 gaming going this cycle?”
Julian: We’re in for an exhilarating journey. The influx of capital from institutions and events like the BTC halvening bode well for the future. While we typically focus on teams building during bear markets, the current stage allows us to delve deeper into fundamentals and analytics, which is where ZTX growth potential shines.
Stephen: The introduction of a BTC ETF helps affirm the public perception of digital assets’ ability to accrue value. History has shown that bull markets are often preceded by infrastructure developments. With improvements in scalability predating this cycle, projects catering to the general public, like gaming, stand to benefit significantly from lower fees, faster transactions, and wallet abstraction.
