In the first issue of Building ZTX, we shared how our team plans to build ZTX with your active input, introducing a series of Playtests that will concentrate on different aspects of the ZTX open-world gameplay. Now, with the first Playtest just around the corner, let’s dive into what we are finishing up before the release and who the lucky Playtesters will be!
Camera and Character Controls
The best gameplay control systems are so intuitive and seamless that you don’t even notice them! At ZTX, we’ve decided to implement an action camera system to enhance the immersive experience. You may be familiar with action camera systems from multiplayer online games like the Elder Scrolls Online or Black Desert Online
The action camera uses the mouse which is prebound to camera movement. You do not have to hold the Right Mouse Button (RMB) to look around and there is no need for a cursor during normal gameplay. It is replaced by a reticle in the middle of your vision field. The reticle is that little dot, crosshairs, or aiming circle on screen that’s so common you might not have thought much about it in games. Sure, it helps you aim, but it also has other important purposes. In ZTX, the reticle provides feedback on what you aim at, enabling your avatar to easily interact with the surrounding world.
Depending on your distance from objects, you will be able to perform all kinds of additional contextual interactions. An important part of making these interactions intuitive are tooltips — visual cues within the game that help you understand which object you are about to interact with.
Ready for the First Playtest? Here’s How to Get In!
To participate in the Playtest, you’ll need a non-transferrable, soulbound ZTX Playtest Pass. If you are an active member of the ZTX community, we`ve got you covered. All holders of the “Genesis Citizen” role in Discord will be rewarded with this airdrop.
But do not fret if you are discovering ZTX just now! You can become a Playtester by participating in the “ZTX Community Week”- a sprint filled with daily challenges. How?

2. Browse and complete Twitter & Discord challenges
3. Log in daily to discover new challenges and accumulate points!

The sprint will end July 19, 10am EST and the top 200 community participants will be rewarded with a Playtest Pass. Even if you are already a Genesis Citizen, you can still participate in the ZTX Community Week! If you win a second pass — you will be able to gift it to a friend of your choice :) We will also reward the #1 sprint champion with a free Genesis Home (to be minted post-Playtest).
So why are the Playtest Passes so limited…?

We kept hinting at rewarding our early supporters and the Playtest will be our first initiative to do so. Active participants in the Playtests will get an airdrop of our $ZTX token upon $ZTX TGE later this year. We want to select active users who provide valuable feedback on the game mechanics we are testing. Playtesters who take an active part, such as creating content in the form of Twitter threads, graphics or streams, will reap the highest rewards.
Join us this Friday July 14, 2pm BST in ZTX Discord for our Townhall event — your opportunity to chat with our team. We will discuss the Playtest access in detail and give away a few spots to users who bring their curiosity and questions.
