Dear Hillary Clinton,

Gerard Mclean here, from Englewood, Ohio, about seventy miles west of Columbus, This is the eighty-second letter of one hundred I am writing you on health care; one for each day between your nomination and your election. The previous letters can be found in your USPS mailbox or online at 100HRC.com.

Today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarbourgh attempted to understand your opponent’s supporters. Instead of calling them racists, we should instead think of them as in pain, a pain that Washington created. As with everything Joe says, he almost gets there, but not quite. I don’t think he likes you very much.

I sent out a series of tweets on this subject, but I think the issue is greater than “pain Washington created.” I think it is the rise of general anxiety in our culture, created by corporations, where we have little to no control of our lives. Then, when we ask our government, who should be looking out for us; “who do we call?” their response is, “I assume that is a rhetorical question.”

It isn’t rhetorical and never will be. We seriously need to know who we need to call when our insurance corporation delays or denies a claim. We seriously need to know who to call when our premiums jump 29% in a year. We seriously need to know who to call when a State Insurance Board sides with an insurance corporation after a faux investigation.

Can I call you, Hillary? Will you fix the problem I voted for Democrats to fix, that I pay a healthy chunk of money every month to a health insurance corporation to never have?

We need SinglePayer, MedicareForAll, UniversalCare now. The anxiety over whether or not we will get health care when we need it is causing its own unnecessary health problems.

Regards,

Gerard McLean
