If there is one thing that writers stress is crucially important for the success of their careers, it’s to have a tribe: a group of people who understand you and are tuned into your particular style of story that you like to tell.

When you write books and stories, you’re not just putting words on a page. You’re putting images in a mind. You’re teaching important lessons to people who crave new knowledge. You’re making people feel something that they have been struggling to find.

Being a writer is as much about these things as it is publishing. Your book is the product, but there are millions of books out there. How are you going to differentiate yourself? That’s something that only you can answer. All I can say is that if you’re able to find the answer, you will have people who will email you asking, “so if your next book out yet?”

When that time comes, fulfillment as a writer is just around the corner.
