I’d like to think that I appreciate the simpler things in life. I don’t need an opulent life, riches, fast cars and plenty of friends. At the end of the day, I just want to have the ability to choose who I spend my time with, defaulting to my wife and daughter.

So why do I strive for more? Why am I writing? Why am I working harder than I need to? Because I want to set an example. I want to show my daughter that that’s the sort of life you have to live to be fulfilled.

To me, it’s important to have direction in life then go as hard as you can in that direction. It sucks to be aimless, to do a million and one things at the same time but not move anywhere. It’s tiring and demoralizing.

I did that for a while and it sucked, so now I’m fighting for more. I’m fighting for what I know is possible. But I’m driven by my happily ever after. I’m not blind to the reality that it’s already here.

The goal is to keep it in sight and not be distracted.
