Chapter 2: Faith Revisited

Though the personas transform from childhood through adulthood, people’s faith (no offense) mostly remains at Tooth fairy level.

Once upon a time lived a little girl who naively believed all that her parents taught. Chief among them was the idea of God. God, to her was the benevolent protector of her family. Whenever she was in distress, she could count on God to fix things up in a jiffy.

She grew up as a strong, independent woman supporting her parents in all ways possible. Then it was time for her to have her own family. She even praised God for bringing the best groom she could ask for.

But life had other plans. In just half a decade of married life, her impregnable faith on God had been tested. Her life in shambles, the troublemakers went unpunished by God. She was left wondering if God was nothing but a fantasy.

That’s the problem with borrowed knowledge.

In reality, no one knows the what, when, where and why of God. But this blind trust masquerading as faith does more harm than good. It’s much better to sit on the fence until true understanding blossoms.

To many, compassion means affection towards their loved ones.
To some, it’s a transaction with strings attached.
Even if there are no immediate returns, it could buy them an afterlife ticket to heaven. Who knows.
Let's do some charity while we are at it.

Unless your love breaks all barriers and flows to one and all, you can’t take the first step towards God. It might seem unrealistic to even consider this as a remote possibility. Who can love all? What about the neighbours who are often rude to us?

But life on earth is only possible because such bravehearts do exist. They are neither rare nor extinct. Otherwise father would have gone for the shutters a long time ago.

Anyways, to begin with let’s aim for a smaller goal. How about 100% love for your own self? Sounds doable right? Right?

Because real faith is a blessing.
Only after the litmus test of love, one is bestowed with faith.
