Phantom Galaxies Beta — ‘Cohort 3: Collectors of Glory’ Now Live!

A new phase of the Phantom Galaxies Beta has arrived! The third cohort of players, holders of Avatar Mintpasses, Starfighter Mintpass, or any amount of ASTRAFER, can now join the ‘Friends of Zorran’ and ‘Rulers of Worlds’ — and launch into the Beta!

This new wave of testers will return to the Ensign’s earliest adventures, experiencing the enhancements of Cohort 1 — including completely revised Starfighter classes with powerful new Ultimate abilities, networked multiplayer aboard Halberd-001, and generative player Avatars. They will also enjoy the updates of Cohort 2 — such as our first PvE multiplayer maps and a brand new Bounty Terminal loaded with missions.

Cohort 3 will also bring new features of its own…

Experience the first ever Phantom Galaxies PvP! Navigate to the Novis Station in Maesser, hurtle through the PvP hyperbridge, and launch into the action. Each multiplayer game will host a maximum of 32 players — test your skills against your fellow Pilots, switching tactically between mech and starship form, mining resources, and upgrading weapons as well as Equipment.

We’ve also implemented a Gear system in which you can view the detailed attributes and perks of weapons and items. Additionally, we are also introducing a brand new in-game currency — Starling. This will be earned through in-game activities, and its primary function is to test various in-game currency sources and mechanics.

NOTE: Starling will not carry over outside the Beta phase or entitle owners to any ASTRAFER. This currency exists purely for testing purposes.

So far in its development, the Phantom Galaxies playing experience has largely been static — with this update, we are also taking the first step towards our vision for player progression in the final game, with an overhauled web of features involving loot drops, weapon upgrading, randomised attributes and equipment perks, and a new Power Cap. Players will be able to chart their Ensign’s journey into a formidable Ranger and Ace Pilot like never before.

HOW TO ACCESS THE COHORT 3 BETA:

1️⃣Ensure you own a wallet containing one of the following:

• The Hopeful NFT
• Zorran’s Favour NFT
• Planet Genesis Mintpass
• Avatar Mintpass
• Starfighter Mintpass
• Any amount of ASTRAFER

Starfighters & Avatars Mintpasses were airdropped to those whole burned posters or minted on our website for 88 Astrafer and can still be minted on the website for 88 Astrafer. Like all NFTs, these can be traded through marketplaces such as OpenSea.

2️⃣ Go to the download page of our official website and connect with your wallet.

3️⃣ Scroll down the page and select ‘Beta’.

4️⃣ Generate and copy your Beta access code, and download the Phantom Galaxies Launcher (Windows) from the download page. MacOS is currently not available for this release but will be coming later.

5️⃣ Run the installer (depending on your Windows settings, you may have to ‘Run as administrator’). If prompted with a ‘Windows protected your PC’ prompt, please select ‘More info’ -> ‘Run anyway’. If prompted with a ‘Windows Firewall’ prompt, please select ‘Allow access’.

6️⃣ The installer will download the game. If prompted with a ‘Windows change notice’ prompt, please select ‘Allow’. Once installed, select ‘Play Phantom Galaxies’.

7️⃣ On load, you will be prompted to enter your unique access code. Please paste your access code into the prompt and hit enter.

8️⃣ Experience the world of Phantom Galaxies!

TO ACCESS THE EXCLUSIVE BETA CHANNELS IN DISCORD:

1️⃣ Navigate to the #collabland-join channel.

2️⃣ Click the ‘Let’s Go!’ button.

3️⃣ Follow the prompts to connect your wallet.

4️⃣ If you have The Hopeful NFT, Zorran’s Favour NFT or any Phantom Galaxies Mintpass (Planet Genesis, Avatar or Starfighter) or any amount of ASTRAFER in your connected wallet, you should see the following channels appear:

COHORT 3 TIPS & CHANGES:

🌌 Episode 2 missions are now available. Continue the Ensign’s journey…

🌌 Battle your fellow Rangers in PvP, in Novis Station. Use the RED hyperbridge in Asterion to get straight to the action.

🌌 Upgrade your gear from the Mecha Menu, and reach new levels of power.

🌌 Equipment now has Perks. Increase stats, reduce cooldowns, and more.

🌌 Defeated enemies now have a small chance to drop loot. Equip the best loot or use it to upgrade your favorites.

🌌 Introducing a new in-game currency. Currently used for gear upgrades, but who knows what else the future holds…

🌌 The Buster has now undergone its own shiny upgrade, in prep for the bright future ahead.

🌌 The mecha melee ability has been updated. No need to Hold V anymore, just press V once when the ability is ready to trigger your super melee. While the ability is cooling down, you can continue to perform regular melee attacks with consecutive presses of the V key.

🌌 There have been improvements to the overall stuttering of NPC ships when they move through space. No more learner pilots behind the wheel! Well, maybe some.

🌌 Player currency can now be viewed in the Mecha inventory screen. You will notice it appears up next to the current power level of your mecha.

🌌 There have been numerous visual, quality of life and server updates made throughout the game.

🌌 New loading screen art! See what our brilliant Concept team come up with.

🌌 We have provided fixes to a number of community reported bugs. This is an ongoing process and we appreciate your continued feedback.

COHORT 3 KNOWN ISSUES:

❗ IMPORTANT — There is a known issue with mission states which may occur in certain quests.

If you have to retry a mission due to failure or death, the state may not reset properly which may block further mission progression. If this occurs, unfortunately, your only option is to reset your character or make a new one. Alternatively, enjoy the other additional content introduced. Rest assured we are working on a fix for the remaining instances this occurs.

The main quests to be mindful of are;
🏴Special Delivery — where failing to protect the escort ship will cause the mission to fail. This should be addressed however you may see remaining debris from the destroyed ship.
🏴Hitting The Data Trail — dying during the boss fight may cause already defeated enemies to not reappear in retries. And if you can’t defeat the boss, you can’t finish the mission.
🏴Artifact Gambit — where dying or failing to destroy the enemy ship in time will cause the mission to fail. The boss will sometimes not be reset to its original position making it impossible to defeat in time and causing further progression to be impossible.

❗During the Wingman selection missions, if you find yourself unable to return to Halberd-001, you must complete all pending Wingman Missions first. For example, if you initiate Charleanne’s + Arman’s + Fitz’s missions, you must complete them all before returning to Halberd-001. If you just complete Fitz’s and leave the others pending, you will be returned to Asterion space. Simply complete the additional missions, or only initiate one to avoid this issue.

❗The semi circle indicating your power level progression in the Mecha screen can sometimes get stuck. It is meant to increase showing you how close you are to the next power level, but this can sometimes stop incrementing. Your power level is still incrementing and will increase when you reach the next level.

Note: All details are subject to change.
