How will the human giant read it?
In the throes of darkness,
inside of Its brooding wall,
how can It decipher the tone,
unlocking the halo buried in the rock,
peering out over the heart inscribed just below it?
The mystery of the deep-shadowed script.
Impeded by the moon’s nightdress,
how to illuminate the halo’s call,
rendering the heart of the stone?
The giant’s thirst is for the key to the lock!
How to drink from the troughs in the hieroglyphs?
O!
It can dance!
A long, slow swoon
under the dark-light of the moon.
Drip-by-drip,
It will sip, until sated.
Its avarice is fated.
Yet…if It does not know the radical scarlet
north up the rock,
how can It unlock the soft tissue from the silhouette
encasing the heart?
The heart of the stone.
