FIRST A MEMO: Stepping Into “Companion Set One”
The advent of The BWS Project’s official site launch season occurs in 2024 — opening with the three-part literary series, “IN TRANSLATION: The Butterfly Worm Society and The Heart Of The Human Giant.”
In present time: Companion Set One is an extended preview series, which also acts as a prelude to the 2024 launch. This companion set is a lyrical sequence born out of PART 1, of that greater series. Each of the nine poems in the set is the descendant of a single mother post that was the impetus for its creation. While each one stands alone (without added context), each poem “echoes the mother.”
“A Beautiful Fear” is the 1st translation from Companion Set One. The numerical value of the mother post it is born out of is displayed in the subtitle for later easy reference (post-launch), as with the other eight poems, appearing hereafter.
A Beautiful Fear
The human giant weeps…
The crying is loud.
It is hot with rage.
How can It go on?
Yet, underneath It here,
where It sits, wailing —
ragged and bloody,
and throbbing —
the ground is cool.
The ground is cool,
and the sound that It hears
north up the rock
is set to carry It south,
out of Its darkness. No doubt,
if It holds on.
If It holds on, It will go on.
Heeding the sound,
It will remember:
Plummeting through Its darkness
is nothing more than
a beautiful fear of morning,
the “fear of” rescinded.
Will It hold on, falling south?
Will It go on, holding on?
If It follows the sound,
It cannot fear
a beautiful morning.
The baby giant weeps.
The crying is loud…
It is a neonate’s (sage).
