I worked from home today, something that’s common at Wolox, but I think it’s unusual for other companies after receiving several comments about how great it would be to have such a benefit.

At Wolox, we have some Home Office days each month, and we can take advantage of them as long as we coordinate with our team. It’s not very often because we like going to the office, but sometimes we need a Home Office day because:

We avoid absenteeism

Have you ever had to miss work to run personal errands, receive a package at home, or take care of a sick relative? Wouldn’t it be much better if you could work from home?

This is a win-win situation, even for the company you work at, as this means your duties won’t be on standby.

We cannot get to the office

During the past year, we’ve had several public transportation strikes. Also, there are times when it may be difficult to get to work because of a traffic jam, an accident on the road, or floods caused by severe storms.

The solution for these situations: Home Office.

We want to break the monotony

You’ve asked for a Home Office day because you wanted to sleep in, taking advantage of the time you spend travelling to the office? Maybe you don’t have a particular reason you want a Home Office day, and you just want a break from the daily work routine.

The importance of benefits as a driver

Benefits could be referred to as “an added value” to the positions within a company.

Before I joined the WFamily, things such as; flexible hours, After Office gatherings or WGetaways (short trips with all Woloxers), had a strong pull towards where I wanted to work. I believe I’m not the only one who considered benefits as one of the reasons for choosing Wolox as their workplace.

At the same time, I think benefits, such as Home Office days, go both ways. When you see the company cares about their employees and about knowing what benefits they would like to receive, it’s more likely they will be happier at work and more committed to the company’s goals.

If you use benefits as a motivational driver, it’s very likely you will start distinguishing your company from the rest, and have many more employees excitedly promoting both your brand and how great it is to work at a place where they care about you.
