BALLS-IN

This episode includes Cross The Ages, The Smurfs Society, Doors3 and our studio Smoothy Labs. What do all these projects have in common?

We’re all in the south of France, near Marseille, and we use blockchain technology and NFTs in our business…

We wanted to organise a Web3/NFT event at home. With Smoothy Labs, we travel a lot in Paris and abroad to create opportunities and promote our Web3 game BALLS-IN.

Blockchain and NFTs are decentralized, and all the events are in the same place… So why not hold an event in the south of France?

Event details here

When I met Antonin from web3conferences again, we quickly realised that we had the same goal. W3C is expert in event organisation, so we had confidence in them, and they were able to rely on us locally to help them.

First of all, we had to prepare and validate several stages:

- Find a cool, practical venue for guests
- Confirm the date, speakers and sponsors
- Create visuals for communication
- Generate NFT tickets for the event
- Communicate on the networks
- Handle questions from attendees

Now it’s time for the logistics on D-Day!

And it all starts with connecting the beer keg:

We’re a versatile team :)

In the meantime, the Briqueterie team who manage the site are helping us by preparing the room, and we’d like to thank them again for their involvement!

After effort, comfort.

Before the attendees arrive, we’re playing the latest version of the Cross The Ages Web3 game, which had set up a stand for the occasion:

Guess who won the game?

Now it’s time to meet our guests in the auditorium.

During 10 minutes, we did an introduction on the topic of the day: NFT from speculation to utility.

We’ve tried to be as clear and relevant as possible without losing the audience with overly technical terms, and by giving concrete examples from real life. These include art, music, community groups, tokenisation of assets, real estate and Gaming.

At the end of our talk, we presented Smoothy Labs and our web3 game BALLS-IN. In the photo, you can see the audience scanning a QR code.

We offered what we call “Whitelist” WL spots.

Anyone registered on the Whitelist will be able to Mint 1 NFT BALLS-IN for free. What’s the point of having 1 NFT in a game?

  • Players actually own (truly) what they buy in a game
  • Players can use their NFT to play several interoperable games
  • Players are free to trade, resell or rent their NFT if they wish to make a profit or stop playing and leave the ecosystem.

To conclude: thanks to blockchain and NFTs, the concept of digital property in gaming has finally come of age, giving players more freedom.

After this introduction, it’s time for the round table discussion:

From left to right:
- Dounia Hadbi : Project Manager at Cross The Ages
- Guillaume Moret-Bailly : Co-Founder Doors3
- Chris Menard : Co-Founder The Smurfs Society

We’re delighted to have had these quality speakers, and we’ll let you click on the links to do your own research into these very cool companies.

As at the Web3 Gaming event, Antonin from W3C moderated this round table, asking pertinent questions about the usefulness and speculation of NFTs.

Key points to remember:

  • Speculation has introduced NFTs
  • Speculation & Utility are not incompatible
  • Holders are looking for real benefits
  • There are uses for collections that have yet to be exploited
  • In the bear market, only projects with real communities survive
  • Everyone’s learning, everything still has to be built

The replay of the conference will be published here shortly.

We ended the evening in style at a local restaurant in Marseille.
The atmosphere was excellent, we met new nice people and left with a lot more knowledge. We think that’s what everyone was waiting for.

We can’t pay in crypto yet or get discounts by showing our NFT! Don’t worry, it’s coming. We know of some projects working on this :)

In the next episode, we’re going to talk about centralised exchange…
