10th October 2018 — ‘DUESDAY’, were highly commended runners up at the EPA Awards 2018. The shortlist for the EPA (Emerging Payments Awards) which brings together the growing global payments community, once again demonstrates innovation, collaboration and excellence in payments.

Duesday, shortlisted for the ‘Best Customer Facing Experience’ walks away as ‘highly commended’ with a close second place to £2bn Klarna, a multinational payment provider with 2,000 staff and 13 years of service. Not bad when compared with Duesday and their dedicated team of only 14 coupled with two years in operation. Duesday have caused a ruckus in the industry so early on their journey.

This David and Goliath story could see another fairytale ending, the underdog Duesday, coming out on top to surprise the global PayTech ecosystem.

Duesday is a mobile platform which gives consumers a flexible alternative to paying regular monthly bills, the ability to split bills between individuals and even earn points and discounts for paying early. Merchants benefit from improved cash flow and more loyal customers. ‘Highly Commended’ Duesday, have taken repeat payments back to the drawing board with their new recurring payments platform, revolutionising payments through offering 21st-century solutions.

Ported to the age of millennials in an always-on world of demanding consumers we took on the needs of fast-paced billing clients. Through Duesday, a unique incentive scheme, clients receive payments from their consumers earlier, more quickly and at a lower cost than traditional direct debits. Raising working capital directly from their consumers our clients can iterate faster and win their loyalty at the same time.

Commenting on the award, Marcus Kern, co-founder, and CEO of Duesday said: “We are delighted to receive this award and very proud to be recognised this early into our journey. Duesday will revolutionise the way merchants collect, and consumers pay regular bills like utility, telephone or gym bills. Giving you a flexible alternative with the ability to split bills between housemates and even earn points and discounts for paying early.”

The awards were another inaugural notch on Duesday’s belt of achievements as they’ve had a busy year full of industry accolades and international partnerships. 2018 has seen this FinTech firm rocket off the starting blocks with vigour and purpose, and are not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. Co-founder and CEO Marcus Kern started off successfully and early on, by winning the Cornwall Digital Entrepreneur of the Year award at the respected 2017 Cornwall Live EDGE Awards to highlight and promote Cornwall’s best and brightest digital stars. At the heart of the event, in association with Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub and Skills Hub, was a desire to show that behind the pasties and Poldark image of Cornwall, there are some world-leading businesses being developed there. But Duesday didn’t stop there, sit down and start counting their chickens.

Duesday very shortly after went on to win the ‘Best Consumer Payments Initiative’ at the PayTech awards 2018. This industry accolade recognises excellence and innovation of IT in the finance and payment industry worldwide. Forging on, Duesday then featured in the Tech Nation 2018 Report, released last month, champions tech entrepreneurs and start-ups through media coverage and growth programme support. Very recently, Duesday announced its recurring payment platform is to collaborate with uniCenta and their award-winning Point of Sale (POS) solution uniCenta oPOS. This move will see all uniCenta users benefiting from increased value through recurring payments options to collect fees from customers on an international scale.

We are not done yet, as the 22nd August 2018 saw Duesday onboarding their first merchants in North America. Through collaboration with EVO Payments, a global processor, processing over $100 BILLION in transaction volume annually.

Travelling across the pond into North America, then saw Duesday journey a little further South into Mexico. In September DUESDAY announced an international partnership with Grupo Hanhei SAPI de CV, trading as MoneyMatic, which, as a leading technology consultancy in the payments industry in Mexico, will distribute and integrate Duesday’s product and services in its home market.

DUESDAY and MoneyMatic first worked together in June to take advantage of the opportunities that the introduction of the ‘Fintech Law’ (la Ley Fintech) had opened up in Mexico. Following three months of intensive planning and development, both companies are starting to reap the rewards of this exciting new joint venture. Combining MoneyMatic’s in-depth knowledge of the Mexican Payments landscape and Duesday’s know-how and expertise is enabling both companies to set a foothold in one of the most exciting markets worldwide.

Many would say, with this pace out of the gate, Duesday may only be scratching the surface of what this group is likely to achieve and may want to follow their story of disruption in the global payments ecosystem.

Stay tuned. Follow Duesday on Medium, Twitter, Facebook.
