Ok. I have never composed music or songs before in my life. But, Am a big music lover and listen to lot different types of music. If I had the financial independence, I would learn music and compose everything I wanted in a song ❤️ Ok, the good news is, we can now make Ai songs! In this article, I will explain how I made an entire music album using Ai > How I created MP3 and WAV master versions of the music > How I created the required album cover and promo material > how I found distributors for the album. All using Ai.
Note: Making an English song using Ai is straight forward. But, I decided to make a Tamil pop music album. As it is challenging phonetics wise and I understand the language good.
Step 1: The Lyrics
I used ChatGPT to come up with the Lyrics. I explained the theme of the song to ChatGPT and generated the Tamil Lyrics for the first song. My prompt was like:
Am composing a Tamil pop song. Write me the lyrics for this song. The concept of the song is: A college student moves to the city with dreams and hope. He is un-employed and lives with his friends in a small room in Chennai city. He sings about his life in the city. The things he enjoys and the daily issues he faces. Make the song sound fun, youthful and energetic. The song will be a high energy Tamil pop song. The target audience of the song will be 18 to 21 year old Tamil people living globally. Mix a lot of English words in the song. Generate the [verse] [pre-chorus] [chorus] [bridge] [hook].
I kept re-generating many times to get the lyrics I liked best. Every-time chatGPT generated a new version, I pulled out only the lines I like. At the end combined them all to come with the final lyrics.
Step 2: Creating the song
I have been trying various Ai tools for the past one year. But sadly none of them were good enough. All the tools were only able to create music loops and vocals that would not sync with the beats. Finally I hit upon Suno Ai, a game changer! For the first time, I was able to hear Ai sing perfectly with the vocals syncing with the beats. And since I was doing Tamil songs, the Phonetics was super important. And to my delight, the Ai bought in the vocals with perfect sounds matching the tracks. Before I explain how to use this tool, remember that even Suno Ai is not 100% what we want. But I can say its the best out there to make Ai music. How to make a music video with ai?
In my knowledge, there is no complete solution for this yet. But, Am eagerly awaiting for OpenAi to launch Sora. I believe once we have access to Sora, we can create the video for the music and songs ( I will update this post as well ). Until then I use a variety of Ai image generation and video generation tools to give a visual component to the Ai song I created. Its not perfect, but something is better than nothing. I generated a series of related images using MidJourney. And created a couple of video clips using Fliki Ai. Then used iMovie creator to place the images and videos throughout the entire Ai music I created.
Step 3: Creating the entire Album
This is the first time Am creating a single song. So I had to talk to a couple of musicians and google to understand what is the industry norm. Seems its decent to pack 4 songs as an album for launch. So created 3 more songs with different lyrics and styles. Infact I experimented creating a Dance pop, Polka style, EDM, Klezmer style song in Tamil language. And all of them came out real good to my satisfaction 😇. You can hear all the songs here.
Also you would need the cover images for each song and for the album. I used MidJourney to create the images. And used Canva to complete the designs.

Step 4: Creating masters for the Ai song
For now, Suno allows you to only download a MP3 version. When launching your music album it would be professional to provide a high quality MASTER version of the songs in MP3 and WAVE format. There are many ways to generate master versions, infact you can hire someone on Fiverr to create a master copy. But, I decided to use Ai to generate the master copy for my songs. In my research I came across this Ai platform that can create upto 36 master copies per year. Am right now in this process. Will keep this blog post updated as I keep making progress.
Note: The most important part after creating the masters is getting a good distributor ( as this decides if you can make money from the music ). Am totally new to this and Am combing through the top distributors suggested by Spotify and others. This part is going to be a bit tricky. I will update this post on the hurdles and wins I learnt till I launch this album 👍
