As I did in 2018, I’m publicly blogging about my new year’s resolutions (2019: Jan; Feb; Mar; Apr; May; June). For 2019, I’ve picked a single word theme: balance.

I indicated that balance was meant to encapsulate the following areas:

  • Food and weight = balance means tracking and making the better choice for myself regularly ↠ Fallen and still down. 🤕 I’m up a lot, and continue to be off the rails, more below…
  • Exercise = balance means making it fit in my day because I feel better when I do ↠ Success! I’ve upgraded to 21 lbs and am continuing to regularly do the NYTimes 9-minute strength workout ~3x/week [Original; Cheat Sheet]
  • Friends and family = balance means taking the time for them↠ Success! Ireland was a fantastic vacation, continuing to have good times with friends. Good work.

Food Issues

So I’ve been pondering a fair bit this month why getting my food and weight issues under control is so challenging. The “Immunity Change” framework comes to mind (See my summary book review). And the main thing that comes to mind is that (over)eating is an easy, mostly safe release for my otherwise upholder-ish personality and it fits with desiring to be seen as a foodie and getting to try lots of things.

Not 100% sure how that translates into improvement for July… But pondering.
