In a couple of days I will share more about the media site I’m creating through my Los Angeles-based nonprofit film organization Queer Female Filmmakers Los Angeles.

I’m currently working on a VIDEO to launch the site this Fall.

As the title of this organization suggests, this MEDIA SITE will be for Queer Female Filmmakers in Los Angeles.

This means Original Short Video Content, and Written Articles, in the form of Vlogs and Blogs, by Queer Female Filmmakers for Queer Female Filmmakers, focussing on Queer Female Filmmaking in Los Angeles and Queer Female Identity.

The VLOGS will consist of Video Essays, Tutorials, Testimonials and Interviews, and the BLOGS will focus on Film Writing and Film Criticism.

The Blog Component may evolve into a Medium Publication through Medium’s Partnership Program.

I also have several Partnership Opportunities with other Film Nonprofits, and my Organization will need a Board of Directors in the near future.

It is the intent of Queer Female Filmmakers Los Angeles to create a media site with quality short video programming to connect, create and foster the Queer Female Filmmaking Community in Los Angeles.

Aside from the Media Site, the Film Organization will also periodically host Film Discussions and Networking Mixers in Los Angeles.

The Film Discussions, or Film Mixers, will be filmed and posted on the site.

It’s important to include here that the founders of this organization are Gen-Xers, and that a lot of the original content produced for this media site will include the opinions and reflections of the Generation X.

This does mean that other generations will be included of course but since a lot of focus in media, and online media in particular, is targeted towards the Millennials and later generations by now, I want to be very clear that this media site will definitely include the POVs of content creators of the Generation X.

And naturally this media site will be inclusive of trans- and gender nonconforming people of all races, ethnicities and nationalities.

Lastly, I believe in nothing less than connecting, creating and fostering a Queer Female Film Movement, and will publish the organization’s MANIFESTO of sorts shortly.

Queer Female Filmmakers Los Angeles is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit arts organization and will be membership-based.

All Intellectual Property Rights Remain With Original Content Creators.

Thank you for reading.

Below a few examples of what I believe are fantastic Vlogs and Blogs, just to show the talent that is currently out there.

I would want the original Vlog and Blog content to be published on the Media Site by Queer Female Filmmakers Los Angeles to reach, or be, this level of quality. And I mean quality of the creative content truly, and over production value.

Here’s an example of what I think is an excellent Video Essay, about Greta Gerwig’s ‘Lady Bird’ (2017.) ‘What’s So Great About Lady Bird?’ by ScreenPrism, sponsored by SkillShare.

And lastly, a few examples of what I think are excellent Blogs, two Film Articles, one on Todd Haynes’ ‘Carol’ (2015) and one on Kimberly Peirce’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ (1999.)
