My Top Most Profitable Ebook Topics On Amazon
the only thing you need right now
I never loved the idea of sticking to one ebook topic. I always loved to explore.
From writing fiction to later writing guides and non-fiction. I have tried and tested many genres. Some worked while some made only a few sales throughout the year!
If you are still wondering which topic to go for then this post will be helpful for you. Remember that, not all genres will work for you. They have neither worked for me as well. All these 10+ of my writing journey, only FEW genres have worked out the most for me.
The Most Popular Book Genres On Amazon
Amazon has more than 17k niches!
You must be asking what’s the shortest way to find popular genres on Amazon?
Now if you figure this out then you can easily figure it out for other platforms as well.
I use this trick sometimes when I am out of ideas. Note that sticking to our genre or niche is a must for a continuous flow of money.
If you have ever been to Amazon Bestseller then you must have already seen something like this —
if you are starting completely new or want to know what to write next then this is what I do. I scroll through this Bestseller list and see if there is something I can write in my category or not.
-> Note down the title
-> See the product details of the ebook. This reveals a lot of things like price point, on what category its ranking, and so on.
If you see above the category MOM and Women rank the most!
Its 9th May 2024 when I took this screenshot.
So after a few days it’s going to be mother’s day and the ebooks have started to sell!
For more info on what category the ebook is ranking then Product Details has all the secrets.
The first book is ranking in —
- Motherhood (Books)
- Parent & Adult Child Relationship (Books)
- Genealogy (Books)
I also go indepth with atleast 3 books in my category. make sure you find the one that suits the best for your niche.
Amazon has more than 17k niches. So never consider that mom and women will come under these niches only. If I click on the second book then the product detail will reveal something else.
This book is ranked in different categories.
Both books ranked in Genealogy at the same time.
Once I get some common niche list, I go on the Amazon Search bar and see how many ebooks are there for that keyword. Here Genealogy is also a keyword.
Less searches mean more chances of customers finding your book.

How to Find the Most Popular Book Genres
If you have used Amazon KDP before then you know that you need to fill out 3 book categories.
I used to randomly write categories. Don’t do that!
As for romance, I would go for Contemporary romance Billionaire Romance and so on. If you see the titles then they don’t reveal much. Targeting the right readers becomes really really difficult.
research. See what your competitors are using. Then decide.
Trends will come and go.
I started writing romance (in a small niche) just because it was very popular back then (its top-selling genre of all time!). But after a few months, the trend went away. Readers started to buy some other book categories and my sales went down.
That was the biggest lesson for me. Never trust the trends.
As you see above, the mom category is trendy now. it’s just because Mother’s day is coming. After it’s gone, the book will drop down the best-seller chart and some other book will be ranking up there.
So instead of trendy niche go for every green.
Trendy niche — “Mother’s Day”
Every green niche — “Motherhood”
I hope you got this.
See you soon!
