Pick one and keep working on it.

Note — There are so many marketplaces where freelancers can sell their services. But in this article, I will talk about the one that has worked for me.

I wrote a few articles related to this submission. You can find the list here.

There are two ways to make money -

  1. Sell Products — sell either your own products or become an affiliate of someone else products.
  2. Sell services —sell your expertise (doesn’t matter even if you are a beginner, you’ll learn gradually)

In this article, I’ll stick with the second one.

Why sell services?

We now believe in monetizing our talents in various forms. One can be creating products or helping out others to do the same.

*Doing both has its own pros and cons.

If you can have a skill why not monetize using both methods? If one goes down, the other will be there to support you.

Example. I can create websites. So I sell website services on Fiverr and Website themes on various marketplaces.

Another example — Consider that you like Canva a lot. You know how to make printables and planners using Canva. You can create beautiful and useful templates for your audience. Make unique Canva Templates and sell them on marketplaces like Creative Fabrica, Etsy. You can even sell it on on Amazon KDP as a low content books. And spent the rest of the time making custom Templates for your clients. There are many people out there who want custom templates for their business.

One skill. Multiple sources of income.

And there is one more reason as to why you should consider selling your services as well. And it’s related to money.

Selling templates on marketplaces will make $5-$50 per sale. But selling services will make around $100 — $1000 per order. You need to charge depending on the amount of hours you are putting into it and also the complexity of the work. You make money instantly in this case.

Why Fiverr?

Now the question arises why prefer Fiverr compared to other marketplaces? I am listing some pretty good reasons for considering Fiverr first -

  1. It is not difficult to get work — I mostly make money from organic traffic and sometimes I also use Twitter for marketing (only when I have energy left in me). No problem with conversion rates because a lot of buyers prefer Fiverr over other marketplaces. I tried to divert them to Gumroad but customers like to buy my services through Fiverr only.
  2. It’s free — No monthly fee to pay for boosting your gigs. I have to add here that you need to pay a small amount once you cross Fiverr levels. This amount is mostly for getting more traffic to your gigs. The amount is used from your earnings. But for this, you need to across a particular level. Before that, it’s free!
  3. No bidding — I have mentioned several times in my articles that I really hate bidding. We do Fiverr Business part-time (most of us!) and spending a whole day on the site just to get decent work is a no-no for me. We all have other businesses to handle. and so for all those who are looking something for part-time, this is the best.
  4. Tipping feature — I like this a lot. You get paid extra for your work.
  5. Perfect for Beginners — I started on Fiverr when I was not even an expert. I really didn’t know many things about website management and ghostwriting. I decided to make Fiverr a playground to test my ability to handle projects all alone and it worked!

Conclusion

I made money on other marketplaces as well but Fiverr has been the only one which made me the most money. Out of the total money — I made 95% from Fiverr while the remaining 5% was from Upwork and Freelancer.
