This article is about my foray into Ayurveda which Google defines as “ the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing.” The word is from Sanskit meaning āyus ‘life’ + veda ‘(sacred) knowledge’.

I cannot say that I know a lot about Ayurveda, but I have experienced enough of Western Medicine and Eastern Medicine to know that Eastern Medicine tends to be more effective because it is holistic. Health is absolutely a spiritual state of well-being that causes a healthy body. But, Western medicine only examines the manifestation of diseased states and attempts to treat the symptoms instead of the causes (roots) of the disorders in the body.

I prefer to use the word ‘disorder’ over disease or sickness because a body that is in ‘working order’ is healthy.

ALL CURRIED UP

My mother was born in Barbados, and the people there have something in common with the people of India. They enjoy a variety of curry dishes. Usually, when you go to an Indian home, the smell of curry has gone deep into the curtains, couches, everything. The smell of curry has become a topic of jokes for people from other cultures. But, after I started studying Ayurveda a bit, it became obvious that curry is preventative medicine.

The ingredients of the curry packet next to me are coriander, turmeric, garlic, chilies, fenugreek seeds, salt, mustard seeds, chick peas, and bay leaves. I am only going to share about fenugreek today, but if you look up any one of the ingredients for therapeutic benefits in Google, you will find a host of research on each of them.

Curry is a tasty way to build up your body, not just a desirable part of Indian cuisine.

FENUGREEK

Fenugreek is not really talked about. Another main curry ingredient, turmeric, is marketed widely as a pain reliever. Even essential oil companies are selling turmeric essential oil now. But, fenugreek is not widely known yet.

Here are a few uses for fenugreek:

  • Strengthens the nervous system
  • Acts as a pain reliever (analgesic)
  • Treats mouth ulcers
  • Helps mothers produce milk (galactagogue)
  • Provides relief from bloating
  • Helps emaciated (thin/weak) people gain weight
  • Improves exercise performance
  • Digestive aid
  • Relieves constipation
  • Arthritis
  • Bronchitis
  • Beriberi (vitamin deficiency)
  • Helps diabetic conditions
  • Atherosclerosis (damaged heart arteries)
  • Boils
  • Eczema
  • Baldness
  • Cancer
  • Cellulitis
  • Obesity
  • Kidney issues
  • Tuberculosis
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Painful menstruation
  • Used for menopause difficulties
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Low Libido (in men and women)
  • Male infertility
  • High cholesterol

There are so many more uses because it generally helps the body heal by cleansing it of stuff that is not supposed to be there.

If you have been following my articles, I have been focusing on alternative cancer treatments, so naturally I had to bring up curry because the properties of the healing herbs in curry are powerful for maintaining and restoring health.

FRANKINCENSE

Before I end for the day, I would also like to share why Dr. Axe included the controversial practice of taking frankincense essential oil orally as part of his mother’s health protocol and why it was present in one version of the MAFActive cream the French lady used to heal herself of breast cancer.

Frankincense is a resin produced by Boswellia trees. The resin, which is useful to the tree for protecting against insects and for living in desert conditions, has been used as medicine for thousands of years.

In modern times, the chemical compounds have been analyzed for the bioactive ingredients and the main ones are monoterpenes. Monterpenes have proven effective in treating herpes, headaches, depression, allergies, typhoid, massive head injury, brain damage, warts, tonsilitis, bronchitis, and cancer. It aids in all these conditions because it stimulates the production of healthy white blood cells that detect and fight disease and reprograms cellular memory (corrects mutations so healing is permananent).

WHERE TO NEXT FOR KNOWLEDGE

There was a time when my sister was really struggling with fibroids and endometriosis. I’m convinced these are connected to “birth control,” but that’s another article I’m not going to write you can check out the video below if you want more info about that.
