Raising Your Vibration — Restructuring Your Egoic Voice

There are times where we fall victim to being attached to the identities that we decide to take on in this life. In the beginning of my awakening, I experienced a ‘bliss state’ in which maintaining my alignment and high vibration was extremely easeful. Not surprisingly, during this bliss state I also spent much of my time in aloneness; only coming away from my solitude to spend time with my family. It was when I began reintroducing myself into the mundane world that maintaining this bliss state proved to be extremely difficult. The question I continued to ponder was “how can I maintain a steady high vibration throughout living in this ‘Matrix’”?

Lets begin by defining the word “vibration”. Vibration can be defined as a person’s emotional state, the atmosphere of a place or the associations of an object, as communicated to and felt by others. This is what people mean when they talk about “good vibes”. As energetic beings, humans can feel through both their energetic and emotional bodies when personal vibrational frequencies are at a low or high state. So when we speak of a high vibration, we are directly citing frequencies of positivity, love, joy and interconnectedness. The motive behind maintaining high vibrations is to enable one to experience life through complete and total intentional awareness. The key to maintaining your vibration is first understanding what your “home frequency” (as Maryam Hasnaa calls it) is. What do you feel in your body when you are at your best? What does love and interconnectedness feel like to you? It is pivotal to understand these feelings so that one can identify and consequently alter their personal frequencies in situations that may lower or heighten vibration.

The Emotional Vibrational Frequency Chart

In the chart shown above, high vibrational frequencies include emotions such as peace, love, joy and enlightenment while low vibrational frequencies include feelings such as guilt, shame and fear. There is no one on this earth that will be completely happy 100% of the time: as emotional beings, humans experience a range of different emotions on a daily basis. However, the question is how does one raise or maintain frequencies of interconnectedness, peace and joy in the midst of a low vibrational environment?

One practice that is pivotal for the maintenance of your vibrational frequency is monitoring your thoughts and behaviors. How do you speak to yourself on a daily basis? Is your inner voice kind? Do you have any baggage that may need some unpacking? If there is anything that I have learned on this journey, it is that I’d rather experience the pain of acknowledging and letting go of negative thoughts and behaviors than carrying on detrimental habits that keep me attached to unhappiness. This is why shadow work continues to be such an important practice for many people. When we are able to uncover negative thoughts or emotions that are lingering within the emotional, energetic and conscious body, we can make room for the accumulation of positive emotions and habits. Cultivating a practice for switching the mental trajectory of your mind has proven to be very difficult for many people. Here are a couple of self-learned tips that helped me to overcome blockages in my own mental state:

1. Address the voice that is in your head: whom does it sound like? Is it yours; is it your parents; your peers? In recognizing that your inner voice is also just another egoic identity, one is able to detach themselves from this culprit. Be careful not judge or argue with these thoughts. Simply observe and give space for them to be heard. Often times it is a lack of understanding and listening that drives the ego to continue to produce negative habits.

2. After listening to your ego, write down all negative ideals, values and beliefs that are proving to be detrimental to your mental state. Where are these ideals and beliefs stemming from? Generally, our ego repeats thoughts that are not true in nature but stem from learned perspectives and perceptions of other people. Similar to a dead plant, we must pull from the root of our core issues in order to rid ourselves of these destructive beliefs.

3. Create a counter-list of productive thoughts and beliefs that inevitably replace the list of the negative ones. This is arguably the most important part of this process because without this new list the ego habitually returns to its old identity; thus, the negative cycle continues. Burn the old list and write down a new program of habits that will help you in ascending into positive and intentional consciousness.

4. Change the tone of voice in your head. Speak kindly to yourself. Encourage and support yourself. Be patient with yourself. Let the voice in your head speak to you the same way you would speak to someone that you love and care about. Always remember, you are just as deserving of the love, support and care that you give to others. If no one else gives that to you, please remember foremost to give it to yourself.

A well-trained mind is powerful in the ways that it can transform your life. Restructuring the trajectory of your egoic self may not be easy, however, the benefits that we reap of being kinder to ourselves is a huge segway into raising and maintaining our vibrational frequencies despite the vibration of our outward environments.
