This has been one of my favorites since I first saw it. With striking looks and immense firepower, the Nova Cat represents how awesome BattleTech can get in its design department when it tries. The same goes for the lore that goes with this unit.

Named after the Clan that designed it, the Nova Cat was developed as a way to rebuild its tounam in the aftermath of Tukkayyid. With the Clan Invasion stopped cold, the Nova Cats contemplated their role in the new paradigm of the Inner Sphere. They decided to ally themselves with the Successor States, which led to their expulsion from the Homeworlds. This new ‘Mech had to succeeded in order to salvage their military and reputation, as well as their morale. It did.

An OmniMech, which means it has several loadouts available, the Nova Cat is usually armed with hard-hitting long-range weapons systems. It is also quite sturdy, albeit it sometimes cannot withstand the sheer heat of its systems. It does suffer in speed and maneuverability compared to other Clanner ‘Mechs, but this means little as it is supposed to remain at a distance anyhow.

I first knew about it in the MechWarrior 4 videogame and absolutely loved the design from the onset. It is angular and almost looks like a medieval armor set, but with gun barrels for arms. It just works!

This model uses 79 parts, some of which are rare, and I’ll reckon it is a bit different to put together. It comes in Nova Cat colors, evidently.

In my Blake’s War project it is the default heavy ‘Mech for the Clan (Nova Cat) faction. Given its origins it does make sense as the inspiration for that position was indeed a powerful humanoid combat unit that could still be rendered defenseless if hit with some specialized abilities.

More on this project to come at a later time. For nowm have fun and stay safe.
